Please note:

Until further notice, please send all Prayer Call requests directly to Alex

All Prayer Call Postings up to  Dec 29, 2009 have now been archived.

If absolutely necessary, access can be granted upon written request.

We double-checked, and were truly amazed by the fact that we have had more than 608650 visitors since our inception.  We are absolutely amazed by this number!

For suggestions about speeding up your computer's access to the Internet, look for the Speed Options at the end of this page.

Internet Visitors, Please note:

This is a private site, created for long-time students of Rev. Resch, so those students could keep in touch with each other after the passing of their teacher.  We certainly acknowledge the strong need for prayer in the world, especially today.  However, this site is maintained by volunteers specifically for the purpose of communicating with each other, in times of need.  As such, we are unable to address the needs of those who happen to find this site, while searching the Internet for help, in the form of Prayers.

Please understand, we also feel that we cannot tailor our approach to fit the needs of those who find our site, as that would be a form of proselytizing and, we must stress, we have no intention of forcing our beliefs on others, nor would we want others' to be presented on our site.

We realize this may sound harsh, but if we were to accept every request for prayers to be posted, it would quickly overwhelm the volunteers who work on this site, and they would be unable to continue serving their own community.

In addition, we can only honor requests for prayers from Members of Rev. Resch's Group, for their families and direct friends.  Requests for "friends of friends" - especially if the Group Member does not even know this "friend of a friend" - can rarely be honored, due to the time involved in creating each posting, and the possibility of overwhelming the volunteers working on the Prayer Call site.

Thank You for the Gift of Understanding.

Greetings!

We Thank You All for your Prayers,

for your Kindness,

for your Generosity,

for your Strength,

and for your Healing Energy.

We are profoundly grateful to all who visit, to

those who help, by offering their prayers for healing,

who offer their prayers for strength, and prayers for comfort.

Bless you all for your amazing kindness.

We pray that it be returned to you, many-fold.

Please click here, to see an explanation of the guidelines for posting on Prayer Call.

PLEASE NOTE:

We have had a number of people write to us, requesting that we go back into the web site and remove all references to their last names, or their partners' last names.

Please understand - we have no problem with the concept of using only the initial, to indicate a person's last name, or "surname."  We only ask that this be made clear at the time that the request for a Prayer Call Posting is made.  Having to go back after the fact, to ensure that this is done, presents its own unique situation and doing it at the time of initial posting is much, much easier to do, than doing it days or weeks later.

We truly appreciate your understanding, and send our blessings your way.

-a.

Here now, Requests for Prayers for the following ...

MAY 19, 2012

We just became aware that Thai had gone back into the NYU Medical Center this morning.

Apparently, last week, Thai had a Cardiac Event - we are a bit short on details - for which she went to the ER at NYC, and was admitted.  They did an angiogram, found a problem at or near one of her valves, and put a stent where it would provide the support her circulation needed.  She was released the next day, after the angioplasty (the implantation of the stent), and came home.

This morning (Saturday, May 19) Thai had pain around her heart, and Liberty and Jeanie rushed her back to the NYU ER - Cardiac Unit - where she was checked and admitted.  The good news is that Thai is in the best hands possible.  Unfortunately, they do not perform angiograms, or other cardiac diagnostic procedures on weekends, so Thai will have that done on Monday and, depending upon what they find, will have it taken care of.

Please, send Thai Strong Prayers for Healing, Comfort, and Calm, and direct the Divine Spirit to guide the hands of the Cardiac Care unit, so that they take the best care of Thai, and return her to us all healed.

Thank you, All, for your Prayers of Strength and Healing; may you all have your Karmic Credits increase, many-fold.

MAY 17, 2012

Hi, Alex can you please put a very special prayer for our dearest friend Sue Ballinger and her niece ...

Thank you,

L & J

Sue Ballinger started on May 15, 12:36 PM, with a disclaimer for her spelling and grammar errors, which puts her solidly in the center of our Group and should help her feel right at home.

Sue goes on to say that her niece, Bryce, went to the ER on May 14 at 11 AM, thinking that her cold may have turned into pneumonia.

She was admitted to Alta Bates Hospital.  Her breathing quickly became more difficult and she began coughing up blood.  She does not have pneumonia but an infection with an unknown source.

Bryce was moved to the ICU, put on pain meds to knock her out, put on four (40 different antibiotics, and all night long she held the high fever as her breathing became even more difficult.

The doctors are (were, as this was on May 15) putting her in a medically induced coma and preparing to put her on dialysis, when her kidneys fail.  Infectious diseases specialists are coming to see her.

So far, no one can figure this out and Sue, family, and friends are so very afraid that they will lose her.

This is why she is asking for our prayers, both for her and for the brilliance of her medical team.  Sue thinks there is nothing else they can do.

On May 15, at 6:07 PM, Sue followed with this:  Sue is thanking us for our Prayers and Good Wishes – [Note:  at this point, she is getting only the smallest part of the group sending prayers; small, not weak!]

Bryce is holding on; not much has changed, and there is yet no diagnosis from the doctors and specialists.  While Bryce is receiving platelets, she has not yet been put on dialysis.  Her temperature continues to spike but Sue says, Bryce is a tough cookie but they really need those prayers and well wishes.

On May 16, at 9:48 AM, Sue wrote (all on her iPad) that she (Sue) is going back to the hospital and that there has been no diagnosis from the doctors as of yet.  The doctors have been trying to stabilize Bryce enough to get her to Stanford.

Sue said they are still in the dark but they keep walking and even though they have no information yet, they will keeps us all posted as to what is going on.  Sue asks that we keep praying [still not knowing that the Whole Group has not been advised yet.]

Okay, Sue is writing on May 16, at 9:08 PM, “Ok, a bit of good news ... some of Bryce's numbers are moving out of the critical range.  Her oxygen level, blood pressure, and skin temperature are improving.  Finally, something [is] going in the right direction.  I'm (Sue is) hoping that we can keep this going!

Bryce is not going to Stanford, but the Hospital has requested a special machine and team to operate it from UC.  Let’s celebrate small for now!

Thank you for your prayers and well wishes !!!!!!!! They are working!”

May 17, 4:18 PM – Now the whole Group Medical Prayer Team is being made aware of this situation.  If only half the Divine Energy, Prayers, and Healing Power are sent to Bryce, as were sent to me all those years ago, it’s only a matter of time until Bryce will be taking a hop, skip, and a jump, right out of that hospital!  She's in Great Hands now, and her recovery should take off like a rubber band being snapped back – take off like a rocket.

Please, everyone, if you have a Prayer Wheel, start turning that thing with super speed.  If you don’t happen to have a while, find a friend or extended family member and get those wheels rolling with Super Divine Energy for Healing Bryce and Sue, who is amazingly calm, given that she has been communicating all this to us during Bryce’s illness.

Be Strong, Sue, and keep Bryce in your thoughts and Prayers, as we will do, and you two will soon be out of the woods and back to the prime of health in no time.  Bless you both, and Bless the Entire Group for your selfless strength and Divine Energy you are directing their way; two people we hardly know, but who are close friends of our sisters, and that’s good enough for us.  Be well all of you; do not allow yourselves to take on whatever is holding Bryce down.  Lift her up on the Strength of the Divine Spirit, and may your Good Karma be returned to you all, many-fold.

MAY 15, 2012

We received a call from one of Su's friends, who is at Englewood Hospital with Su.  She had been sent for coffee, as they were examining Su in a private way, and Su did not want company for that.

The bottom line is that Su came through the surgery just fine, and is healing quite nicely, thank you.  Pink Cloud is on temporary assignment at Englewood Hospital with Su, just to keep her Sensa Uma up and running.

[Owl Butterfly; by permanent permission from ET.]

Please continue to send the Divine Spirit to surround Su with Strength and Healing, and to keep both Su and Mr. Ginger Cookie calm while Su heals at the Hospital.  Thank you all for your Strength and Prayers.

MAY 14, 2012

We received an email from Su Nissan this morning, in which she requested we post this notice:

Dear Prayer Call,

Would you please post this request on Prayer Call for me?

Tuesday (tomorrow!) May 15th at 8:00 a.m., I am scheduled to have an Atrial Tachycardia Ablation procedure at Englewood Medical Center, in Englewood, New Jersey.  I'll be in the hospital for 3-4 days and then, Spirit willing, they will send me home.

It's a fairly uncomplicated procedure, done to regulate my heartbeat.

Thanking you ALL in advance for your prayers,

xoxo,

Su

P.S.:  Please also send prayers of comfort and calm to Mr. Ginger Cookie (Su's wonderful feline companion) and give him a healthy appetite as well.

Thanks again, so very much!

Su

It is of the utmost importance that Mr. Ginger Cookie gets the Prayers of Strength, Calm, and Comfort, while at the same time, Su gets those Strong Prayers of Calm, Strength, and Comfort, so that she worries not about things over which she has no control.  Like the timing of this posting for her health.

Please everyone, be certain to let Su know how much we all love her so much, and that we are wrapping her in a Soft Blue Blanket of Healing and Comfort, which she is being completely protected and surrounded by the Healing Strength of the Divine Spirit, and the Steel Tower of Protection, to help keep Su out of trouble while she is a guest at the hospital.

April 27, 2012

From Valerie, we have an update on Marcia:

Hi,

I finally was able to speak to Marcia, who's been in intensive care in Santa Fe until yesterday (April 26, 2012). She's still very sick; her lungs and heart were much damaged by the loss of her spleen, and she needs continued prayers for healing.

She faces at least a month of rehab before she can go home, but her spirit is strong and she now is confident that she will live through this ordeal.

Marcia is deeply grateful for the prayers on her behalf and sends much love to everyone.

Thank you, ... for posting, and ...

Love,

Valerie

As you all can see, Marcia is much better but not yet out of the woods.  Please continue sending those Strong Prayers for Healing and Comfort to Marcia, and of Calm and Comfort to Harmon, as they work through this ordeal.  We know the Divine Spirit will bring them out the other side of this in so much better shape, and pray for that day to arrive soonest.  And we thank you all for your continued Love and Support, in their time of extreme need.

In another update, we have learned the results of Alex seeing a spinal surgeon:  there is actually no surgery currently available which would relieve the problems in Alex' back.  However, there is a way to relieve the nearly constant pain.

There is a procedure in which a Pain Management Surgeon will implant a so-called pain pump, where a tube to deliver medication is implanted in the spine.  The tube is fed by a small motor or pump, implanted in the abdomen, which contains a reservoir of pain medicine.  The doses delivered are actually miniscule, compared to the levels of pain medication currently taken orally, but by being delivered into the spinal area, they can relieve the pain in a much more efficient manner.

Alex will begin looking into the five or six surgeons recommended, and if all goes well, and he doesn't have a real attack of "what am I thinking of," he will have the procedure done, as soon as the proper surgeon is found.  Additionally, none of this should have an adverse effect on his newly confirmed heart murmur.

Please send Strong Prayers to Alex, that he makes the right decision finding the right surgeon, and that he and Eliza can get through this situation in relative calm.  And our thanks to you all.

April 23, 2012

From Su, we have another update:

Eirene had same day surgery.  Came home the same day.

She's dealing like a hero with the knee and the resulting healing actions, which are challenging to say the least.

Please keep the prayers to her going.

Thanks so much for your prayers.

And so we ask that you do continue sending Strong Prayers for Healing to Eirene, to help her get back up on her feet and running around in no time, and that she be comfortable while healing as well.  Thank you all.

April 21, 2012

From Su, we have this update:

Eirene is on the mend.

Her spirits are good, and she is taking good care of herself.

Dealing with anything that has to do with the knee is a a challenge for anyone and continued prayers of healing sent to her would just be wonderful.

Please, keep those prayers coming for Eirene.  Check in with her to see whether she needs anything, since she cannot go out grocery shopping just yet.

I'm sure the Divine Spirit is not anywhere near overloaded by all of our extended family who need prayers for healing and strength, and with a knee operation, Eirene is going to need loads of prayers to overcome the pain, the newness of the patch work the surgeons did to help her walk normally, and throw in a little extra Love for Eirene.  After all, she can't go out dancing for a while, no matter how much Su is going to try and get her to go out <BG>!  And thank you all for your Love, Strength, and Prayers.  They will all be returned to you, many-fold.  Your Good Karma  is building up and up ...

This bears repeating, as it arrived separately from Dalita, and is relevant to our request from April 19th:

Dear Alex,

Please post this on the Prayer Call Site.

Please send prayers of healing to my sister, Elizabeth Rubinstein.

Please send Prayers to keep my sister alive.

Please send Prayers of Strength for her upcoming surgery and a strong healing for both her legs.

Please send Elizabeth Rubinstein the right energy to keep her believing in the Light and the Spirit and envelop her in a blanket of healing blue light.

Thank you.

Dalita

Once again, we urge you all to send the Strongest of Prayers for Healing and Strength to Elizabeth Rubinstein, and envelope her in a Blue Blanket of Healing, to help focus all of our prayers.  Thank you so very much, for all you do in the name of the Divine Spirit!

April 19, 2012

We heard through Su, that Dalita needs Particularly Strong Prayers for her sister.  The Call for Prayers is from Dalita herself, verbatim (with a tiny bit of editing from your Prayer Wrangler):

Please send prayers of healing to my sister, Elizabeth Rubinstein.

Please send Prayers to keep my sister alive.

Please send Prayers of Strength for her upcoming surgery and a strong healing for both her legs.

Please send Elizabeth Rubinstein the right energy to keep her believing in the Light and the Spirit and envelop her in a blanket of healing blue light.

Thank you.

Dalita

Please note that Dalita has not sent us any explanation as to what her sister's condition is, what is causing her to sit at the edge of the door, trying to not go on ahead of us all.  We can only ask that you truly Crank Up the Prayer Wheels, Surround Elizabeth with a Blue Blanket of Healing, and ask the Divine Spirit to send the Spirit Specialist, Thane Beltoth, to pull Elizabeth back from the door to the other side, as we understand that it is truly too soon for Elizabeth to take a journey of such irreversible consequences.  Please, may you all send the Divine Spirit to Elizabeth, and to all of her doctors, both on the physical plane and on Thane Beltoth's Plane, to help heal Dalita's sister.  And we know that your amazing selflessness will be returned to you all, many-fold.

Forgive us for printing this here, but it seems especially appropriate in this case:

We sent an angel to watch over Elizabeth, but it came back.

We asked "why?"

The angel said: "Angels don't watch over angels!"

Twenty angels are in your world.  Ten of them are sleeping, nine are playing, and one is reading this message.

Please read ... not joking ... God has seen Elizabeth struggling with something.  God says it’s over.  A blessing is coming her way.  If you believe ... please don't ignore it, you are being tested.

God is going to fix two BIG things ... in her favor.  If you believe ... drop everything and pray on it.

Tomorrow will be a much better day.

[We have modified this prayer to match the circumstances; that Elizabeth will benefit from the Angels watching over one of their own!]

[A photo taken of a 'faerie,' from a book containing similar photos.]

At this point, we have heard no updates on Eirene's surgery.  Many of you have asked, but we do not have an answer.  If you have her home phone number, perhaps you can call her and maybe cheer her up a bit, as well.

We are still requesting prayers go her way.  All Prayers will help her.

Meanwhile, Alex Howard is beginning a marathon of visits to spinal surgeons, to learn if there have been any new developments for his spinal problems.  Even his current Pain Management Specialist has told Alex, "I don't know how you can put up with the kind of pain you experience.  Not too many people would live through what you have happening in your lower back and the associated pain down your legs.  Especially since Medicare has blocked the use of the medications we used to prescribe for you - they have blocked it to anybody who does not have Cancer and, Thank God you don't have Cancer.  However, it was the only medication that was able to give you nearly instant relief when your breakthrough (acute) pain hit you, and was the only medication that kept you on an even keel during normal days with your chronic pain.  And Medicare has blocked this medicine to all patients, no matter who their supplemental insurance company is.  So I urge you to find a spinal surgeon who may have a new technique that Medicare will approve."  The marathon begins on Monday, as Alex works his way through the surgeons at Englewood hospital, then Hackensack University Spinal Center, and so on.  Please send Alex Prayers that the Divine guides him to finding the proper surgeon to take care of his back, to alleviate the pain which is currently running across his lower back and down both legs, to his hips, then knees, then ankles, and feet; the feeling is similar to a hit knife cutting length-wise through the bones in every part of his lower abdomen.  So if he acts strangely, please forgive him for he is trying to muddle through.

April 16, 2012

Thai received an email from Marie Crilley about her Aunt Edna.

Following her operation on the 28th, she was doing fairly well, although still a little confused.

Last Monday, she had a massive stroke and has been pronounced brain dead.

Her wishes were to not resuscitate, and so her feeding tube has been removed.

Marie says, "we lost the epitome of unconditional love, who I am happy to say was in my life for 60 years."

Marie is requesting prayers to help Edna make the transition.  Hopefully she will be welcomed and lovingly greeted by her brother Harry, who was killed in WWII, and her husband Joby.

We can only request that you send the Strongest Prayers of the Divine Spirit to Marie, her aunt Edna, and the entire family, so that all are able to live through this sudden transition; we also Pray that Edna is indeed welcomed by her brother Harry and her husband Joby, in the most tender way possible, so that the Divine Spirit is able to bring Edna into the next step tenderly and lovingly.

We thank you all for your Incredible Prayers and Strength, as Marie needs all the Prayers she can get during this very difficult time.  Bless you all for your help and kindness.

[With an update on April 14, 2012]

This was passed along by Thai:

Hello All!

Once again we are producing our Brooklyn College concert. We have a wonderful line-up of choreographers, including the Graham 2 Company, doing 2 duets from early Martha Graham.  Both Artis and I (Germaine) are doing new pieces, but the evening is not specifically themed.

Please see the attached flier; we would love to see you, if you can make it.  If you can't would love to see you anyway but after the 20th of April.

If you have a group mailing list we would be ever so appreciative if you could send this on out.  For some reason I still don't have Liberty's email and only have a few from "group" people.

The concert is on Friday April 20th at 7pm at Whitman Hall, Brooklyn College.

Thanks very much.

Love,

A&G

Please, everyone, make an effort to get out and see this concert.  It is incredible beauty, and we all know how wonderful Artis and Germaine are at their craft.  One this is for certain, they will not disappoint you; on the contrary, the Big Apple Circus doesn't hold a candle to this performance.  These are some of the finest dancers in the Entire World, and they've put together a concert just for you!  so get off your tushies, get in the car, drive all the way to Brooklyn, and have the Times of your Lives!  We will see you there!

April 11, 2012

We received an email today from Valerie, with:

An update on Marcia

Harmon tells ... she's out of the ICU and has been transferred to a regular hospital room. She's recovering, slowly, and still needs prayers.

Love,

Valerie

We thank Valerie for bringing us this update on Marcia.

Please, continue to crank up those Prayer Wheels, and ask the Divine Spirit to keep a Blue, Healing Blanket around Marcia, that she continues to heal and get stronger, and send Strong Prayers to Harmon, that he is able to remain calm and purposeful during this ordeal.  And our thanks to you all.

Just a short note:  Alex has been confirmed to have more of a situation with his heart in the form of a heart murmur.  It had been suspected in the past, but his cardiologist confirmed it last week.

[With an update on April 14, 2012]

In addition, his bones from the waste down have become susceptible to the abnormal excruciating pain which companies his damaged disks and nerve damage, such that with the medicine Medicare has limited Alex to using, the pain does not actually go away but worse, it stays attached to Alex' bones, kidneys, Crone's Disease of the gastroenteritis system, and more, such that there are now very few times during the day or night when Alex is actually not experiencing pain on a serious level, and Medicare confines the medicine that Alex had been taking to only people with cancer.  So Alex must choose between expensive pain medicine or food, medicine or living expenses, or living or utilities, and s on,  Clearly at some point Alex' choices are not going to be so simple for  he and Eliza will need t make a serious choice of putting Alex into a home, where he will live the rest of his days in pain and discomfort, looking for a way to end the pain, and only seeing his dear friends on special occasions, like birthday parties,

We only ask that you send strong prayers that he  be able to survive and remain alive but not in pain.

Please send a few short prayers his way to help strengthen his heart function, as well as his bodily functions.  And our Love to All of You!

April 10, 2012

From Su, we learned that Eirene is going to have surgery tomorrow morning April 11, 2011 at 7:30 A.M. on her right knee to repair a torn meniscus.

We ask that a blue light of healing surround Eirene with a special spotlight pinpointed on her right knee as she goes through the procedure and that the doctors are guided to complete the repair in a timely manner and in the best of best ways. Please also guide the hands of Eirene's surgeons, that they do the best job they have ever done.

Thank you all for your prayers.  Please know that your Good Karma will be returned to you, many-fold.

March 30, 2012

We received email from Harmon, relayed through Valerie:

Marcia had surgery yesterday, Thursday, and is now in the ICU at St. Vincent's in Santa Fe (not Albuquerque, as was said before).  Harmon said that, after four hours of extensive surgery, her condition is serious, and prayers are urgently needed.
Marcia's "... vital signs are good and steady, they removed the mouth respirator and she is already starting to heal."
So thanks to everyone for all your thoughts & prayers, and please send continued prayers for Marcia's healing!

Please continue to Pray that the Divine Spirit's Healing Strength is focused around Harmon and Marcia, and a  Blue Blanket of Healing envelopes Marcia.  Please know that your Good Karma will be returned to you, many-fold.

March 29, 2012

We received email from Harmon, through Valerie, last evening:

Hello,

Harmon asks that we send prayers for Marcia, who is in St. Vincent's hospital in Albuquerque. A routine colonoscopy damaged her spleen, and she is going to be in the hospital for observation for five days.

They may have to operate.

Please send prayers that she may have the best possible care and the best possible outcome!

Love,

Valerie

We thank you all, for your Strong Prayers for Healing and for Strength, for Marcia, and for Strength for Harmon.  You help focus the Divine Spirit's Healing Strength where it is needed, and we pray for a Blue Blanket of Healing to surround Marcia.  Please know that your Good Karma will be returned to you, many-fold.

March 20, 2012

We received email from Marie Crilley, through Thai, this morning:

Hi,

Edna came through over 4 hrs under an aesthetic, and the Doctors are pleased.  They didn't have to remove as much of the descending colon as they had thought, and she will not go to the Intensive care unit, but to the high dependency ward.

We're all very relieved. Thanks for your concern and prayers.

Los of love,

Marie

Once again, we thank you for your Strong Prayers and good wishes, for Aunt Edna, and Marie, and the whole family.  You have helped focus the Divine Spirit's Healing Strength where it is needed, and we have a great outcome.  Please continue to send prayers of Healing and Strength to all.

Also, through an email from Thai, comes this message from Anne Bates:

Sorry I haven’t been in touch for a while.  I’ve been in hospital.  It was one of those dramatic moments, when I was being told (on the phone by my very young GP) that I must immediately go to hospital.  Blood results back from the Lab implied a very serious anomaly in the Liver.  I don’t know who was more worried – me or the Doctor.

After many tests, scans, etc. the Hospital Docs decided it was “probably” an allergy to Penicillin (duh!),but further investigations have to be done.  My blood clotting time went completely adrift, leaving my blood the consistency of pink water!  That’s been dealt with now, but I’m having to get blood tests every day to make sure.

I feel like shit – even less of an appetite than before; and absolutely no energy.  My ankles and legs are gradually getting less painful, but I’m still having problems walking.  So – today (online) I bought a cheap self-propelling wheelchair, so at least I can get to the local shops, plus a very lightweight “transporter” – a kind of buggy/stroller – in which people can push me, but I cannot propel.  It’ll go into my car and can be used for going for “walks”, theatre, etc.  The 2 chairs came to just under £200.00, but I think they’ll be worth it.

The Local Council is sending someone urgently to assess me for further aids, such as a moving “post” to get down the stairs.

There was a moment last week when I thought I might have cashed in all my chips, so ill did I feel.  But I’m getting the better of it now.  Please ask everyone to say prayers.

Love, Anne x

Please send Strong Healing Prayers to Anne Bates, that this situation be resolved and she gets back to normal quickly.  Wrap her in the Blue Blanket of Healing, and keep her in your prayers, along with the others who need your energy and strength.  And may the Divine Spirit hold you all closely, to return your goodness, many-fold.

March 19, 2012

We received email from Thai this morning:

Please edit Marie's email about Aunt Edna and post on Prayer Call.  Marie's Aunt Edna is 93 or 94 and the last of her generation in Marie's family.  She never had children of her own, but her nieces and nephews adore her.

Thanks.

Love,

Thai

Hello Thai,

I thought you would want to know that Edna has been in hospital for a few days.  She has a perforated bowel and will be operated on tomorrow.

This morning all of us are going to a bedside family conference with her surgeon.

She's very tired, but in good spirits and quite stoic about the operation.  For that generation who have lived through a world war, almost 2, as she was born in 1918, the Depression, and all that life throws up at you, it's just one more thing.

She has a small toiletries bag which isn't big enough, so she asked me to buy another one ... just a cheap common one will do!

I'll let you know how she's going.

Love,

Marie

Please send Strong Prayers of Healing and Strength to Aunt Edna, so that her stay in Hospital is short and she comes out feeling stronger and better.  We know you will join her family in providing the wishes that the Divine Spirit will hold Edna in a Healing Blanket of Blue, and will guide her surgeons' hands that they are able to provide the best care.  And we pray that your Karmic credits are increased, many-fold.

February 20, 2012

We received the following email message this morning:

Dear Alex,
Please post this on the Prayer Call site.

Erwin Frankel passed over Friday, February 17,2012.
He was a very loveable person, a storyteller of the first order, a survivor of the Nazi terror.  He was an individualist; a pioneer.
Erwin was influential in bringing folk music of the world to us via his radio program and concerts.  He was instrumental in producing concerts of various musical and dance genres before it was popular to do so.
He presented to the general pubic the best of the music and dance of the Middle East before it was popular to do so.
I pray that he has a beautiful, easy passing and that prayers of healing, protection and love be sent to him.
I'm grateful for the blessing of knowing him this lifetime.
He will be missed.
Thank you for your prayers.

Sabah Su Nissan

Please join Su in sending Divine Strength, Guidance, and Love to her friend Erwin Frankel, who has touched her life in so many positive ways.  It is always a difficult time when we lose a friend because they have taken a different road, to go on ahead of us.  We must try to fill the spot Erwin took with Joy, not Sadness, such that we will always remember him with warmth in our hearts.  May the joy he brought to the world be reflected by Sabah Su, towards all of Erwin's friends and family, as we work to accept his passing.  And Thank You All, for your Prayers and Strength.  Bless you all.  And he thanks you as well, for your help .

February 8 to 19, 2012

Please send Prayers of Healing and Strength to Alex, who has been recovering from a stomach virus and upper respiratory ailment for nearly two weeks.  Unable to keep anything down, or in, for the first week, he lost more than 12 pounds, and is now struggling to regain his strength and energy.  He has returned to eating normally, and hid strength is coming back slowly.  So Alex needs to ask for strength to complete his recovery.  Many thanks to all who have sent him prayers of strength.

We spoke with Su today.

We learned that she has been ill for the better part of two weeks.  While we are not at al sure what kind of illness has taken her down, we are asking all of you to send her Strong Prayers for Healing.  Wrap her in a Big Blue (not necessarily the Giants) Blanket of Healing, and send Su energy that she recovers quickly, and is able to go back to work feeling fine.

And we Thank you All for your Strength and Generosity, and for sending the Divine Spirit to help Su regain her strength and her health.

We also  spoke with Eirene:

Apparently late last week, as she was leaving work to go home, she turned back to say goodnight to her coworkers.  Unfortunately, while her body turned in one direction, her knee turned in the other, and she "heard a crackle."  She has been keeping the leg and knee elevated, treating it by icing it down for fifteen or so minutes at a time, and staying off of the leg as much as possible.

Eirene intends to return to work on Monday, so long as she can walk - carefully - on that leg.

As with Su, please send Eirene Strong Prayers of Healing and Strength, and envelope her in a Blue Blanket of Healing, too.

And we Thank You All for your Generosity of Spirit, sending the Divine Spirit to help heal both Sue and Eirene, so that they can recover quickly and fully.

May you all be Blessed by the Divine, and may your Strength and Prayers be returned to you many-fold.

This is just a quick note to let you all know that Prayer Call has a 95% chance of continuing on into the New Year with no major changes.

Whoopee!

January 16, 2012

Today we received an email from Joy Bright; we did not know that Joy was in such distress, and we apologize for not wondering whether we should post this.  We felt that the Group would send Prayers and thus, help Joy to heal better, quicker, and more easily wherever possible.   Here now, the message from Joy:

Hi, I'm right here in Beacon with a relapse of Epstein-Barr and Chronic Fatigue.  It came on before Christmas.  So sorry about no holiday greetings or sweet breads or birthday wishes.

Paul's picking up the essential slack around here as I sleep 12 hours out of 24 and nap or rest the other 12, ugh!  I'm hoping this is a short relapse.

I am beginning to feel a little better. (BB, got your postcards, thank you).  Well, I gotta go lay down again.

Love you all, oh so much!

Joy is our friend, our sister, our extended family member, and has sent each of us prayers when we needed them; she certainly should get loads of our help if we can send it her way!  Please send Strong Healing Prayers to Joy and also to Paul, to give him the strength to, as Joy said, "pick up the slack around there."  Wrap them both in a Healing Blue Blanket, and hold that Umbrella of Safety over their heads, while they get better.

Update on Eliza's leg problem:  the swelling has gone down such that it looks nearly normal.  Eliza has been cautioned to elevate her leg as often as possible when not at work, and to ensure that the exercises she does at the gym do not adversely effect her condition.  She is nearly over this episode.

Update on Thelma T. Kitty:  While Thelma continues to lose weight, she has a healthy appetite and is not dehydrated.  She has indeed lost weight, but does have energy for an 18 year-old kitten, and her personality is strong.

Update on Alex's various pain-producing ailments:  Alex' Medicare Rx Coverage has refused to approve the medicines he has taken for more than 8 years for his four ruptured, herniated, and non-existent disks, and caused both Alex' doctor - now Mayor of West New York - and Alex, to appeal a number of times.

So heavy Prayers to help them approve Alex' medicines would help greatly. Even his local congressman has gotten involved, by sending letters of support and encouragement to the prescription coverage people, to try and convince them to pick up where Alex' former private prescription coverage people had to stop, due to his becoming covered by Medicare.  Unfortunately, the numbers work this way:  without insurance, it costs him nearly $600 for a box of 30 lozenges; with insurance, it would cost $139 for four boxes of 30 lozenges; under his private (COBRA) insurance, it cost Alex $10 for four boxes of the same generic medicine.  At present, Alex is not able to afford the proper medicine to alleviate the excruciating pain with which he lives daily.

Ain't the Congressional method of administering Medicare, to help people in need, a wonderful thing?

Another case of food or medicine; or utilities or medicine.  If any of you know of charities which help people pay for medicines when Medicare or Prescription coverage will not pay to help the person in pain, please let Alex know, so he can apply to them, to be able to walk, sit, sleep, and basically live with so much constant pain.  His Pain Management doctor has now administered two separate treatments of cortisone shots in Alex' spinal regions, disks and facet joints, and plans a third series in late January or early February, to help reduce the constant pain.  But the medication Alex has taken for nearly 8 years is the only one which provides nearly instant relief from the pain.

Enough with the soapbox.

Eliza and Alex' cousin, Pat Howard is doing better, though she is still in the hospital.  Please do call her when you have a chance - her cell and hospital numbers are below.

Eliza is home from the hospital - she does not have a DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) but does have a Baker's Cyst which ruptured, and a 5 centimeter (I don't know metrics either) hematoma bled into her leg muscles, which caused her leg to swell to thrice its normal size, and produce tremendous pain.  Eliza is taking medicines to reduce the swelling and occasional pain meds.

Alex' Kidney infection along with his Urinary system infection have combined with his Ulcerative Colitis and his four damaged lumbar disks - along with having had an auto accident last Saturday - to produce a combination of non-stellar influences (or not?) which have caused him pain and discomfort, but then what else is new.

Thank you all so very much for your Prayers for Pat Howard, Eliza Howard, and Alex Howard; and Prayers to help them get better quickly.  Thank you all and Bless you all!

December 29, 2011

We received a call from Thai:  Pat Howard was rushed to the hospital last night, unable to breathe.  They stabilized her and will most likely keep her for a few more days, until they are sure she is okay.

Her hospital room phone number is 609-343-5519 and her cell phone number is 609-335-3006.  If you get a chance, please do call her and wish her good Health and a Great New Year!

Thank you all for the Strength that you send her, and the Healing Powers with which you surround her with a blue blanket of Healing. May your good wishes and prayers be returned to you, many-fold.  Bless you all!

December 26, 2011

Eliza and Alex received an email from Alex' First Cousin, Once Removed, Adele Stern (known to the family as Delly):

"If ... I determine I and /or my family can attend the 2012 one (Family Reunion), I will make my arrangements.  I appreciate the work you and others are putting in.  Especially because it has provided me with contact to others of later generations I never really knew.

So, ... my hesitation is only because of health!

With happy memories...

Cousin Delly

We Pray that you all can send strong Prayers of healing to our cousin Delly, so that her health improves and she can attend the Hillman Family Reunion, later this year (2012).  And we Thank you All for your selflessness in sending prayers to our cousin, to help her get better, to help her get well, by wrapping her in a blue blanket of healing and Good Health!

Eliza has been released from the hospital, with medications she must take, to help with both the pain and the swelling.  Her diagnosis is a "Baker's Cyst" broke, behind her knee, and bled into her muscles, causing a hematoma (bruise) about 5 centimeters long, oval, to form, causing the swelling from the knee down to the ankle.

she is home now and much better, thanks to your Prayers.  Please, keep sending them for a little while longer.  Our Love to you All!

December 21, 2011

Eliza Howard was seen in the Emergency room of Palisades Medical Center tonight at about 8 PM, after her doctor, Dr. Mark Gabelman, diagnosed the possibility of a DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) in her right leg.  Eliza's leg has been swollen and increasingly painful for about a bit more than a week and she finally decided to see her doctor.

The Hospital did some initial tests and found no signs of an imminent DVT, but did find a subcutaneous, intra-muscular hematoma (bruise) of about 5 centimeters in length, oval in nature, under her right knee.

They decided to admit her and have a vein specialist examine Eliza so at around 11:30 PM she was taken to room 549, bed 2, to spend at least one night and possibly more.

Please, send the Strongest Prayers you can to Eliza to heal her leg, and to her doctors, to make sure they do all that is necessary to diagnose and treat Eliza.  And Wrap Eliza in a Blue Blanket of Healing, so that she heals and gets out of there as quickly as possible.  Thank you all so very much.  Her cats and bird, and Alex need her at home, very much.

Meanwhile, Alex' Kidney infection is running its course, with high fevers at night, but he is otherwise feeling much better with the medicines he is taking.  Thelma continues to hang in there, losing weight, but eating and drinking well.

2:00 AM.

(Update for)

November 24, 2011

Dear Friends and Extended Family.

Once again, we need to ask you for your strongest prayers.  It appears that Eliza and Alex' oldest kitty, Thelma (18 years old), has begun exhibiting symptoms of kidney failure, similar to her sister Louise's kidney failure last February, when Louise went on ahead to wait for her sister.

Alex has similar Kidney Failure and Kidney Diseases - among these is one called Hydronephritis - combined with other Kidney and Prostate ailments.  Unfortunately, we have begun to recognize Thelma's problems as being similar to those which preceded her sister, Louise, just before she left last February.

We are extremely aware that your Strongest Prayers may be able to hold off Thelma's Kidney diseases for a short while, we do ask that you attempt to help Thelma by sending your Strongest Prayers her way, that she is at least comfortable as she approaches a transition.

We can only thank you from the bottoms of our hearts, for all the prayers you have sent our way during these trying times for Eliza and Alex, and we do indeed Pray that your Prayers and Good Wishes be returned to you, many-fold; we love our little girl very much, and do not want her to suffer any more than is necessary.

May the Divine Spirit bring you all the best and the strongest Good Karma possible, for what you have been doing for all of us while we help in trying to heal Thelma.  We also know that your Prayers have helped Alex, so if you can send Strong Prayers to Alex, we will be very grateful for your good Wishes and Prayers.

May the Divine Spirit send you Peace and Strength, during this transfer of Positive, Healing energies.  Our thanks to you all for your Strength.  May the Divine Spirit Bless you all for your help and Strength.

Please do forgive my being overly emotional while writing this posting.  It has not been an easy one to write.

Louise

Update on Alex' health:

Alex spent the morning in Englewood Hospital yesterday (Monday, November 21), having an Endoscopy done.  Apparently they had to redo it because Alex does not get enough oxygen into his lungs, and therefore into his system, to sustain him during that procedure at the Ambulatory Surgical Center.  He must be monitored and taken care of at a hospital, where they have all the neat toys, and a specialist in cardiac anesthesiology.

The test was a success; they found and removed a number of polyps, to be sent for testing at a laboratory; results that probably won't be back until early next week, given the holiday (T-giving).

Alex' unrelated urinary infection seems to be diminishing but he must continue to take the strange antibiotic twice a day, to ensure eradication of this infection.

Thank you all so very much for putting in a good word with The Spirit.  I know that this helped to make the testing go smoothly on Monday.

Please, also put in Strong Prayers, as Alex is applying for a job with the West New York Board of Education.  Alex' pain management doctor, Dr. Felix Eduardo Roque, recently elected mayor of West New York, NJ, has promised Alex a job with the board of education.  After some legal wrangling, due to illegal (fraudulent) maneuvers by Dr./Mayor Roqué's predecessor, the Mayor finally has control of the Board of Education and can now make serious recommendations - the kind that those at the top of the Board will take seriously.  As such, Mayor Roque is arranging for Alex to meet with the people who can help Alex get a position with the Board.  Because Dr. Roque is aware of Alex and Eliza's situation, vis a vis the foreclosure, Dr. Roque has been galvanized to action, such that he will do all he possibly can to put Alex on the Board of Ed.

According to Alex, all he needs is to show the bank that he has an actual well-paying job, and they will modify his mortgage, such that he will be able to pay the monthly costs of the mortgage, and Eliza and Alex should then be able to stay in their home, along with their three cats, and one bird.

Please, please pray as hard as you feel you are able.  All Eliza and Alex need to show the bank that is that Alex has a well-paying job, that he is now gainfully employed, and the Bank will modify their mortgage, such that Eliza, their three cats and one bird and Alex, can stay in their home.  So Prayer, Big Time Prayer, is needed.  We don't want to be the first family in the Group to be homeless, due to foreclosure.

[We don't want ANY family in our Group to become homeless, due to foreclosure or any other reason!]

Alex has become so verbose; it’s difficult to practice brevity these days <BG>!  Please forgive Alex for running on and on.

[We do wish to thank all who have helped us to continue on, especially eating, while we work our way through this nightmare.]

We simply need Strong Prayers from our Extended Family and Friends.  And our thanks to you all, along with our sincere wishes that all Good Things be returned to you All, many-fold!

Sweet William

November 14, 2011

We have an update on Alex' procedures, and his health.  We will try to keep it shorter than the last entry (below), in order to prevent too many people from dozing off ...

Friday, Alex' went to the Ambulatory Surgical Center, where his gastroenterologist was going to perform an endoscopy.  Alex was prepared, put on the table, given a short time to say his prayers, and put to sleep.

When Alex was brought to full awareness, or what passes for it, he was told that due to some combined technical and medical circumstances, they were not able to perform the procedure and it would have to be rescheduled, this time to be done at Englewood Hospital instead.  (Alex guesses they have a much larger mallet with which to hit him on the head and put him out ...).

In the meantime, Alex has been playing phone tag with his Urologist's two secretaries, finally reaching the doctor himself, since Alex' family doctor/cardiologist has insisted that the urologist be involved in figuring how to treat Alex for his urinary infection, which is very resistant to most antibiotics, except those of the Penicillin family.

Alex is, or was, allergic to Penicillin.  He may need to be tested again, since it has been more than 40 years.

When all of this is straightened out, the procedure will be rescheduled and then done.

In the meantime, Alex spent the entire weekend in bed, sick with the major symptom the inability to urinate, and with terrible pain, which continued when he was able to begin again.

Eliza has been incredible, given this was her chance to find a way to finally get rid of Alex and her restraint was admirable.

So to try making this shorter, when we know more, we will post more.

Thank you all for your Prayers and kind wishes.  We again ask for Strong Prayers to help Alex get well again, and to help Eliza to help Alex.  You have all been incredible, and your prayers have been felt and appreciated by both of us.  And we pray that they be returned to you, many-fold.  May the Spirit be with you All.  Bless you, so very much!

November 11, 2011

First, we ask your forgiveness for such a long explanation of why we are asking for prayers from our friends and extended family.  We do apologize for such an incredibly lengthy explanation.

Eliza and Alex have asked that this be posted to the Prayer Call site immediately:  During a series of tests done on Alex over the past two weeks, it has been determined that Alex has a number of physical problems which can only be resolved by surgical procedures of one way or another.  First, Alex has a urinary infection of an antibiotic-resistant strain.  Apparently, it can be treated through IV applications of Penicillin or derivatives of Penicillin.

The problem with this is that for the past 40 or more years, Alex has been allergic to Penicillin and all derivatives thereof, like Ampicillin, or similar derivatives.  So Alex' doctors are not sure how they are going to handle this particular problem.

In the interim, Alex is going in for an ambulatory procedure called an Endoscopy, as his gastroenterologist called him yesterday, after an office visit of Tuesday, to tell him they want him in their operating suite by 2:30 PM on Friday, November 11, 2011.  Alex will be there and, because Eliza does not work on Fridays, Eliza will be able to drive him there and bring him home afterwards.

Last Thursday, November 3, 2011, Alex also had Cortisone treatments in the lumbar region of his spine, performed by his Pain Management Specialist, to help with the pain from his damaged disks and the associated nerve pathways, to try and relieve him of the excruciating pain, with which he has been living for the past few months.  In one of the problems between the disks, it has been described as "bone on bone" and in that particular case, there is no way to fix the situation.  In the other three disk problems, two of them may indeed be cured by inflating them with an inert material which will not cause rejection, and the third situation may indeed be resolved by the same kind of inert material, which would not require the inflation to be repeated.

The facet joints between disks and other parts of the anatomy which help to keep the spinal column's nerves in the proper place while it transmits the pain, or lack thereof, to the brain, can be helped immensely by these methods of non-invasive surgical techniques.

Strong Prayers can help to relieve these situations and help the pain to be minimized and kept from transmitting excruciating pains from the lower back, where the pain is transmitted into quite serious pain.

A week later and Alex reports that the shots have had a positive effect on him, as the major pain has been reduced quite a bit from the cortisone shots, along with the pain medications he has been prescribed.

Please, if you can find a few moments during your day, send Strong Prayers that the surgeons are guided to the areas necessary to relieve the internal ulcerative colitis and the other colon-related areas of pain and discomfort, so that Alex can live for a while in a near pain-free condition.  And send Strong Prayers to Alex, that he comes out of the anesthesia feeling less pain inside than he has for a while, to help him try to live as pain-free for as long as is possible.

Finally, please send Strong Prayers that the doctors can find a way to treat the urinary infection Alex suffers from, without sending Alex into anaphylactic shock from the possibility that he may still be allergic to Penicillin.  If Alex is no longer allergic, the IV treatments for this urinary infection may indeed be helpful such that they do not have to perform more drastic surgery to remove something called a fistula - a pinhead sized hole between the colon and the bladder pathway - which would necessitate major surgery and the implantation of a colostomy bag.  (Then, Alex would have to find shoes to match the bag ...).

We ask for your Strong Prayers to help find non-surgical methods of healing Alex' various problems, so that he returns from these procedures without having to go through major surgery for these problems.

And we Thank You All, for your Prayers and your Good Wishes, to help with Alex' healing.

[Louise. who left us in February of 2011; Alex' favorite cat of all .]

We received this email from Valerie:  Hello, Alex,

My sister Carey passed away on the morning of August 15th, in Springfield, Virginia.  Please send prayers for a peaceful and blissful transition.

Thank you and love to all,

Valerie

Please send prayers of Healing and Strength to Valerie's entire family, and specially to Carey, as she moves into the next plane.  She has had a very difficult time with her illness, it is time for her to have an easy transition and a lovely life on the planes to follow, as she goes through the teachings.

And may the Divine Spirit Bless you all for your Prayers to Carey and Family.

August 10, 2011

We got a call from Su about her supervisor's best friend, Ella Gotlibovsky, who lives in Israel.  Ella has contracted a disease which attacks every organ in the body, and the doctors have no idea how to cure this disease.  The doctors in Israel are about the best there is anywhere, and yet this disease has confounded them.  We ask that you send Super Strong Prayers for Ella, and her family, and Larissa, Su's friend, and Ella's life-long friend.  Healing and Strength and all goodness to Ella and all involved.

And we thank you, as always, for your incredible spirit of help and strength.

August 8, 2011

We received a request from Regine, to post the following:  "... I wonder if you could post a request from a good friend of mine for prayers - for Alison Armstrong - her best friend who was in a car accident and is in serious condition, but not paralyzed thank God.

Her car hit a tree.  If prayers could be sent her way for strong healing and wellbeing, my friend Kathy would be very grateful. Apparently she really needs these prayers.

Thanks,

And be well,

Regine"

Please do, send strong Prayers to Alison Armstrong, that she is able to heal quickly, that her pain is minimized, and that she returns to good health soon. And our thanks to you all, for your Special Blessings.

August 2, 2011

With sincere apologies, we post this request for prayers, which arrived over the weekend.  We were having similar problems to the person noted here, and did not spend any time in front of our computer.

Gillien wrote:

Please ask for prayers for Charlene, the twin sister of my close friend Sharon. Charlene is going to have her 4th surgery on her back this coming Monday, Aug. 1, at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, NJ. Thank you!

Gillien

Please, send the Strongest Prayers for Healing to Charlene, who had this back surgery already, that her surgeons did the job they were born to do, which is heal her.  Charlene deserves more than a person skipping the request for her prayers.  And we Thank You All and send our Blessings to you too!

July 22, 2011

Please, extend your prayers for Healing, Comfort, and Guidance of surgeons' hands through the weekend and on into the coming week, as Eliza's supervisor and friend, Libby, continues to have work done on her, which was not scheduled but which is completely necessary.

We Pray that the work done will be successful, and that Libby will emerge from the hospital totally cured of any and all possible problems for which she has been there, and that she will no longer need the help of those surgeons and doctors, nurses, and support staff from now and into the future.  Libby is a gentle soul, and needs our Prayers to get through this period in the best way possible, such that she will be able to be completely cured and feel so very much better, and so much more relaxed and calm after all the hubbub of this week's activity.

We thank you all for your Support, your Prayers, and your Help in these trying times for Libby, and please know that without your Prayers and Help, this may have been a much more difficult weekend than we have made it out to be.

[Central Park Relaxing spot; permission in perpetuity by author/photographer.]

Our sincere thanks for all you have done to help this situation, and we genuinely pray that all be returned to you many-fold.  Our Thanks and Our Blessings to All.  And Our Love to you, too!

From Eliza, we have learned that her boss, Libby, is going for a biopsy today, Tuesday, July 19, to test for breast cancer.  The procedure is scheduled for 1:45 PM this afternoon; we are not certain when she will receive the results.

Please, send strong prayers for Libby, that she comes through this test calm, and completely healthy, and strong prayers to her doctors, that the Spirit guides their hands to do their work flawlessly, such that all goes well, with as little discomfort as possible.

Thank you all for your Prayers and Strength.

Prayer Call received this email today, from Joy:

Dear Joy,

[July 11, Monday]  Had very sad news this morning around 11am:  Kevin (Meru) passed away.

He made it to New Delhi hospital Saturday, and the Doctors put him in the ICU shortly after arrival.  Tests showed that bacteria had spread all through his blood stream - in a matter of a couple of days he had gone into cardiac arrest; he could not be revived, and was gone.

I have been working closely with the US Embassy since last week and cannot give them enough praise for their help and caring.  I know he was in a good hospital with good doctors.  His funeral will be in India, as that seems to be where he was the happiest.  I will miss him so much, but do let's keep his memory in our thoughts always.

I feel you were his best friend.

Love, Shirley

Dear Friends, Family, and others who kept Meru (Kevin) close to their hearts.

Please send Strong Prayers to Meru / Kevin, so that he will be guided by the strongest light towards the next level.  Many of us were dear friends of his, and so he will be missed by a great many people in Ellen's Group, as well as others not in the circle.  During part of Meru's life he was a teacher, and those of his students will miss him greatly, as he brought beauty and knowledge into their lives.  A renaissance man, Meru was many things to many people.

He was to us, a Friend; a Dear Friend!

Meru was a gentle soul, brilliant and at times contentious, but that is one of the things which made him  such an intense friend.  We all learned a lot by conversations with Meru, and we all will be somewhat diminished by his absence.

Crank up the Prayer Wheels, as this loss is among those which cannot easily be smoothed over.  Just know that Meru is on his way to being taught how it really works by his Spirit Guides and Spirit Teachers, and he will enter a period of intense growth during which time many of us will feel his presence.  That is only Meru's way of showing us all that he has progressed; he will be playing with us from that next level.

We send our Love and our Prayers to Meru, and ask that all do the same.  And may your Prayers be returned to you many-fold.

JUNE 21, 2011

Today, Eliza and I awoke to discover that our phone service and internet service, and all things related to Verizon had been turned off, due to our non payment of their bill.  A week or so ago, we were fortunate enough to have a dear, very dear friend pay a bit less than half of our PSE&G Bill, so we did not lose our gas and electric service.  Unfortunately, we had no such angel to swoop down from the heavens and help with the communications bill.  That I am able to put this on the Prayer Call Site and then send the reminders is due to the fact that we have paid Verizon with the money we had saved to use for our COBRA, our Health Insurance.  If we cannot pay the COBRA before the end of this month, we will lose our health coverage, which includes the expensive medications Alex uses for his damaged disks and facet joints in his back.

We have taken to selling heirloom jewelry to a jeweler we have learned to trust over the years, someone in Edgewater Commons, and Alex will be selling more today, to enable us to pay for our COBRA.

All we can do is thank those of you who have been so generous as to find a little work for Alex, and to donate some small amounts of funds to enable us to pay the outstanding bills we owe the utilities.

It is our dream and hope that Alex gets work - full time work - but it is beginning to look more and more like his age is getting in the way, and stopping employers from hiring him.

We thank you all for your generosity in our time of need, such that we can continue to pay for the things which are absolutely essential to be paid, while we explore the many charities which may assist us in our hour of dire need.

Thank you all for your help and prayers to get us through this incredible time.  May the Divine Spirit Bless you ALL in the most wonderful ways possible, and keep you all from ending up in this sort of situation.  It is a terribly difficult spot in which to find ourselves, and the word terrified doesn't come close to covering it.  I pray that none of you ever find yourselves in a similar position!

Bless you all, and Thank you all, for your generosity and your help.

Love,

Eliza & Alex Howard

MAY 17, 2011

Due to a combination of stellar influences and some of Verizon's email strangeness, I got this email today - it has been batted back and forth to Prayer Call since March 29, 2011!

Here, now, under the date of May 17, and corrected, is this piece about Regine's late father.  Her version appears at the end.

PROGRAM

Service conducted by:

Rabbi Gary D. Kessler and Cantor Eitan Binet

Speakers

  • Marian Cohn, daughter

  • Regine Urbach, daughter

  • Meyer Goldstein

Sidney Zacharia Cohn was almost 97 when he passed away on March 19, 2011. He fought valiantly and heroically till the end. Honored by Temple Beth-El for his long and dedicated service, he is beloved by his family and friends. Even the most distant stranger who made his acquaintance could not help but see the pure light and gentle, loving kindness coming from this wonderful man. He accomplished many things including becoming a New York City Police Captain and building his own wholesale stationery business which became the largest of its kind on Long Island. His wife, Marlene Cohn, remains the love of his life, and his two daughters, whom he adored, are lucky to have called him "Dad."

My dad, Sidney Zacharia Cohn, was almost 97 when he passed away on the morning of March 19, 2011, at 7:30 a.m.  He had been fighting a valiant battle against pneumonia, heart disease, kidney failure and many other ailments that have ravaged his body in the past few years. Everyone loved my father.  With a moon/Venus trine, you can imagine.  He was honored in his synagogue, he was beloved by his friends and family, and everyone who met him couldn't help but see the pure light and loving, gentle kindness coming from this wonderful man.  He accomplished many things, including becoming a New York City police captain, and building his own stationary business, which became the largest of its kind on Long Island. If possible, please include him in your prayers for a peaceful transition and for everlasting light and love.

Thank you so much,

Regine

Please everybody, send Strong Prayers that Regine's father has a peaceful and calm transition to the next level of the Divine Spiritual World.  He seems to have deserved all the Loving Prayers we can send to him, and the Strong Prayers we can send to his family, that they are surrounded with Strength, Beauty, and Good Health, while Sidney makes his way into the next level of the Spirit world.  I am certain that there are many of us who would love nothing more than to have this kind of description about them, as they pass through the Bardos, learning and growing as they go.

Thank you all for your Peace, Prayers, and Divine Good Wishes for Sidney Zachariah Cohn, a model for us all.

Just a note:  May 9 is Alex' late father's birthday.  He would have been 99 today.  May the Divine Spirit Bless Nat Richard Howard (Horowitz) for his selfless life of charity and sacrifice.

In an email from across the pond, Anne Bates wrote:  A very dear friend of mine – Ris – who is British, but now lives in Cleveland, is married to Art.  Art has just been told that he has a cancer that appears to be untreatable.  Art turned 90 a few months ago and has been battling a number of health problems, including heart disease, for some time, but this news has been devastating for him, for Ris, and for their entire family.

In addition, Ris’ son – Jeremy – has Krohn’s Disease, which has become a greater than usual challenge in the past few weeks.  Jeremy is in and out of hospital at the moment and probably facing more surgery in the near future.  As if this is not enough Jeremy’s wife, Dawn, has a painful kidney problem, which is usually only resolved by the passing of stones.

I have known Ris since we were teenagers together in London and I love her like a sister.  She has lived in the US for around 40 years.  Her marriage to Art followed an unhappy first marriage but which produced two lovely children, Jeremy and Kate.

Ris especially will need to be very strong during the coming months and I ask that prayers be said, not only to sustain her during this very worrying time, but also for her husband, Art; her son Jeremy and her daughter-in-law, Dawn, asking that the Doctors will find the right treatments to ensure their healing and comfort.

Thank you All,

Anne Bates

Dear Friends and Extended Spiritual Family, we ask that you send your strongest prayers towards Ris and Family, so that the Doctors can properly diagnose and treat the serious health problems of the entire family, and the family  comes out of this situation as pure as they possibly can.  We Pray that all health situations be healed, that Art and his son. Jeremy, are treated by doctors on both the Earth plane and on the Spiritual plane in such a way as to help them to heal in record time.  May the Divine Spirit grant you all good health and good spirits, with which to battle both the cancer and the Krohn's disease, and may your Good Prayers and Wishes be returned to you, many-fold.

We received email from Su:  My dear friend, Phyllis Markuson -we've known each other since we were 8 years old- had a kidney transplant 22 years ago. It appears that her transplanted kidney is not functioning well as of this day.

Please send Phyllis prayers of healing and that the medication she is now taking will help get the transplanted kidney back to "normal", and that the doctors proceed with the correct action to help the kidney get back to a functioning mode.

Please send prayers to guide the doctors so that they make the right decision regarding her treatment so that Phyliss can heal properly.

Thank you,

Su

Please, do send Strong Healing Prayers to Phyllis and her doctors, so that they not only properly diagnose the problem, but provide comfort and healing as quickly as possible.  Divine Spirit:  wrap Phyllis in a Healing Blue Blanket, and give her strength and comfort while she is on the mend.  And we thank you all, for your Prayers and your Caring.  May your Goodness be returned to you, many-fold.

A Short Prayer from Ellen, from 1981:

Hello,

You are very Dear to me.

Thank you for your spiritual assistance.

Many dreams have been fulfilled, many will never come to pass.  It has been, and always will be, my concern to pray for, and work toward soul-growth and well-being all around.  Sometimes Karmic Flaws prevent instant or full success.  Continue to make a fervent effort to understand more of Spiritual Work.

Be more Receptive (Hxg. #2) to the Divine Energy and Protection in 1981, the Year of the Iron Bird and of Abstemiousness.

Create new room inside for the listening ear and tenderly loving care for one another.

With many blessings and Love,

Ellen

Eliza and Alex need your help:  Usually this web site does not get involved in politics.  However, due to the possibilities in the West New York, NJ elections, coming on May 10, 2011, we have decided to humbly request your prayers.  Dr. Felix E. Roque - Alex' pain management specialist - is running for Mayor of West New York.  If he is elected to that office, he has promised that he will hire Alex for a top position in his administration.  If that does happen, it will allow Eliza and Alex to retain residence in their home, avoiding foreclosure.

Please do send Strong Prayers to the Divine Spirit, such that Dr. Roque does get elected, and hires Alex to be his top assistant.  Thank you all very, very much.

Through Thai, we have learned that the arrangements for Martin's mother, Agnes McNamara, are as follows:

The wake for Martin's mother Agnes, will be held at Hodder and Son, 899 McClain Avenue in Yonkers, NY.  Their phone is 914-237-5800.

[Central Park Spring, by ET; with permission of the photographer.]

It will be today, Friday March 18, 2011, 2PM to 4PM and 7PM to 9PM.  There will be a funeral mass at St. Barnabas Church, East 241st Street, in the Bronx, a few blocks from the funeral home, Saturday morning at 9:45 AM.

March 16, 2011

Through Thai, we learned that Martin McNamara's mother, Agnes, passed away yesterday.  Martin let us know she will be buried with her late husband, Joe.  All her sons are still living.  So it'll just be mum and dad in the grave, as well as dad's parents.

Mum's passing was very peaceful with lots of loving family around her.  She had some pain along the way but it was well managed.  She is definitely free of all that now.

The wake and funeral will be here in NY, then the wake, funeral and burial will be in Ireland.  Martin will let you know the details.  They will also be buried with Joe's parents.

Martin wants to let you al know that "I'm ok, a bit numb."

"Hugs,

Martin"

[Calming Trees; permission to publish by photographer.]

Please send Strong Healing Prayers to Agnes McNamara and to Martin, that they be Wrapped in a Blue Blanket of Healing and Love, and that all goes well, going forward.

Thank you all for your Strength and your Kindness, and Love and Peace to you all.

We heard, through an email from "B," that Thai's Uncle Sonny passed into the next world on March 11.

Please join us all as we send the Strongest of Prayers to Thai and her family, as they celebrate the passing of Uncle Sonny.  While it may seem to be a difficult thing to think and say, it is quite true that Sonny will be much better off as he walks with Ellen, Winn, and the Spirit Teachers in his new environs,  Uncle Sonny was, from all accounts, a wonderful, generous, thoughtful man, who himself wanted to be able to look after all of his friends and family, such that he would know that everyone was being taken care of.

We are saddened to say that Uncle Sonny cannot do this from the Earth Plane, but is more able to do so from the next plane, on which he is able to ensure that his family and friends are taken care of in the best possible way. In return, we Pray that Uncle Sonny is himself taken care of in the best possible way from the Divine Spirit Level, where he will be guided to learn just how to help from his new vantage.

May your Strong Prayers wrap Sonny in a Blue Blanket of Healing, and wrap Thai in a similar blanket of healing, such that he will now be able to ensure that his large, extended family and friends are taken care of, such that all will be protected by the Divine Spirit and similarly all will be protected by Uncle Sonny and the Divine Spirit.

Thank you all for your diligence.  May the Divine Spirit Bless you all!

Emergency Call for Prayers!

Please send Strong Prayers for the people of Japan, and all peoples effected by the 8.9 earthquake and resulting tsunami activity, which has already begun to hit the West Coast of the United States, and is moving to hit all the way down the Western shores of the Pacific Ocean.

Thank you All!

Emergency Call for Prayers!

From Eliza:

On Monday, March 7, sometime in the morning, Eliza's boss, Libby Peters (a Lovely Libra) will be having Cataract surgery on her eye.  As she has had this done on the other eye first, she is having it done again, on the second one.  (They don't have cataract surgery for the Third Eye!)

Please, send Strong Prayers to guide the hands of the surgeons, the anesthesiologists, and all involved with this procedure at the hospital where this will be done.  The procedure has been surrounded by serious amounts of protective layers of secrecy ... only because Libby Peters is a Libra and being so totally unsure of how to handle it, she opted for complete protection.  We, however, have the Divine Spirit on our side and are asking that the Spirit and all the Divine Surgeons be guided and made to perform flawlessly, such that Libby will be able to walk out of the hospital with no pain, and with nothing but successful procedure for the surgery, as well as a calm and protective period of healing following the surgery.

We wish Libby to walk in to the office when the time comes for her to return to work, get a full update on what has gone on during her absence, and give an equally full update on the progress of her procedure.

Please, Spin those Prayer Wheels to get them gong such that they will make a very difficult and intricate procedure as smooth and trouble-free as possible.

We send Strong Prayers of Healing to Libby anther family and doctors, and equally strong prayers for her recovery, wrapping her in a blue blanket of healing and recovery.

Thank you all for your help and your strength.  And lour Love to you and all who have been involved in sending strength while this goes on, such that the healing is as smooth as it is possible to be.

And Our Love to You.

Appropriately, March Forth!  Eliza and Alex have a short update on their foreclosure mediation meeting from Tuesday, and before the salient points are forgotten (okay, so we did take notes!), we wanted to let everyone know how your prayers have helped us.

Going into the mediation on March 1, at 9:00 AM, we had a few very hard and fast rules by which the mediation was going to be conducted.  And coming out, about two and a half hours later, there were very few changes:

  • We had been given until Mid May to sell the house on our own, and make a profit, so that we could pay the bank what we owe them on the mortgage, hopefully take something home with us to enable us to buy a new house, and move.

  • In the same time frame, if Alex were to get a real job, and were able to show the bank a month's worth of pay stubs showing that he is earning enough now to pay a modified mortgage, then we could go for a new modification on the mortgage.

  • Also in that same time frame, we had to sign a document that basically said we would not attempt to try a new mediation on our mortgage; we got one bite at that particular apple and that was it.

  • Again, in the same time period, we could allow the bank to sell the house in what they call a short sale - meaning equal to or less than what we owe them on the mortgage itself, and come away completely broke with not a prayer as to where we could possibly go to live, especially with the cats.

That is the long and short of it.  We sat and listened to the mediator tell us how the whole thing works.  We then listened to the bank's lawyer tell us the bank's stand on the situation, and then we listened to the bank's other representative, via Blackberry, telling us all the other details that the lawyer on site was not prepared to read to us.

When that was all over, we asked salient questions about how things will and can work, how the bank feels about throwing us out on our rears, and so on.  The Bank is - to their credit - not in a big hurry to throw us out.  But they will stand by their original time frame of Mid May to End of May, with that as the time frame for us to get a job for Alex and the ability to prove to the Bank that Eliza and Alex can actually make the mortgage payments, if the modification is actually successful.  It all hinges on the amount of money we bring in during the month, versus the amount we spend on expenses in the same time frame, in a percentage of assets versus liabilities on a percentage, such that we may actually earn enough to re-balance that percentage, and prove Alex is now contributing to the payments and they can make the monthly mortgage payments.

  • Given that Eliza and Alex have nearly no other expenses or bills, no credit cards to pay off, their cars are both completely paid for, and they only need pay for Utilities, including phone, TV, heat, electricity, and the like, it is more than possible to get to the point where they can actually make it.

  • In the biblical sense, rather than giving Eliza and Alex Fish to eat, they need to get fishing lessons and maybe a trawler, to catch enough fish to feed themselves, and pay for the other expenses every month.  Were they to make that successfully by Mid to Late May, then they can stay in the house, apply for a new Mortgage Modification, and see about keeping the house.

  • As an aside - it may just make the most sense to find a "sweet spot" at which to sell this house, pay off the remainder of the mortgage, and with the balance of money over and above what they make by selling the house, buy a smaller, cheaper house ... one that is also in foreclosure.  At which point they would need to have help painting and moving in and the rest, since they're both in the mid 60s and no longer strong enough to carry furniture and paint and the rest of that.  They will, in the process, sell any and all they can from their current home, like older computers and components, such that they can make a little electronics money, and help pay for the cleanup and modifications to paint and so on in the new place.  But that will indeed require help for all fronts.

  • And that is about all we can say for now, given our circumstances.  If anything more comes up, we will bring it to light.  In the meantime, we will continue to let all know the circumstances.

And Thank You All for sending such Powerful Prayers our way, that we were not thrown out of the house at this first meeting, and given a little time to see about getting our stuff together in order that we might be able to survive.  Thank you all for your Prayers and your Strength, and Please ... don't stop now, while we need to find the strength and ability to get it all done in a timely fashion.  With our Love to you all!

Eliza and I want to thank you all for your incredible outpouring of Prayers, Good Wishes, and Sympathy, at the loss of Louise, our sweet, loving cat.  She was a wonderful little girl, and seemed to be so much smarter than the average cat - and Lord Knows, Eliza and I have had quite a few cats over the years.

So just a quick Thank You to all who have sent their good wishes our way, at losing Louise.  It's not certain that we will get another cat at all, but if we do, we would like to have Louise return to us.

May the Divine Spirit Bless you all for your kind wishes, prayers, and wonderful words at Louise's passing.  You are an incredible group of people, one which could never be found anywhere else in this whole world.  Bless you, all of you.

February 13, 2011

Some time, between 4:30 AM and 8:40 AM, Louise left us to go on to a better life.  Eliza and I each, in turn, held her and together we said the Lord's Prayer for this exceptional kitten.

We have never known a cat so intelligent and wonderful as Louise, and probably never will.

She was so attentive to our illnesses that she would park herself near or on the problem area, and purr and give of herself, while making us feel better from the pain and suffering.  Louise even found me when I was in Palisades Medical Center, just to show that she could, and to bring care to me.

Eliza said the Lord's Prayer for Louise today.

We will bring her to Secaucus Animal Hospital for burial, as we know that they will take care of her in a decent and humane way.

Please, say Strong Prayers for Louise, that she finds her way to Ellen and Winn's side, that she is received with love and affection, and that her suffering is finally over.

We have never known or loved a cat as much as Louise, and it is difficult to let her go, even difficult to write this for her.

Please also send Strong Prayers to the rest of our family, Thelma, Skye, Goldie, Bowie, Eliza and me, that we can recover from her loss quickly, and remember only the good about Louise.  After all, it was easy, since there was nothing bad about her.  She was, in all possible ways, the perfect feline friend.

And we thank you, and the Divine Spirit, for taking Louise into the arms of the Spirit, to give her solace and Peace.

May the Spirit Bless you All, and bless your four legged friends as well, with health and strength.

We received this email from Thai:

Dear Friends,  I just received the following email from Rob's wife Meg.  It seems that the hospital felt that they had done all they could for him at the hospital and sent in home in a body cast to continue, for what they anticipate will be a long haul, his healing.

Love,

Thai

And, this email is what Thai received from Rob's wife, Meg:

Subject: rob's condition

Just wanted to update you guys on Rob's condition. Amazingly enough, Rob is home.  He has 4 fractured back bones in his upper back and two in his neck.  The fracture is on the outside edge though, and high enough in his back that his shoulders seem to stabilize the back.  He is wearing a hard neck collar and probably will for a while.

He is uncomfortable and will be for a while but, it is just a miracle.

We had hundreds and thousands of people praying for us and we have received a miracle!

Meg

What is a miracle is that Rob sustained these injuries by skiing a few weeks ago, and the doctors were not sure how he would come out of it all.  Thai's original emails on Rob's condition, and her requests for prayers got this going such that Rob has improved way past his doctors' expectations and is, as you see, at home now.

Truly a medical miracle.

Please do continue to send Strong Prayers to Rob, wrapping him in the Blue Blanket of Healing, so that he continues to recover completely and sooner than his doctors expect.

Also send Strong Prayers to Meg and the Children, that they are able to take care of Rob and be relaxed and calm about his condition and progress.  No riding the non-electric bull, or other games with his body cast please <G>.

And Thank You All for your Prayers, which have brought Rob this far in so short a period of time.  May the Divine Spirit Bless you All!

Report update on Eliza and Alex' kitty, Louise:  Lou continues to lose weight, even though she eats with great vigor, and begs for extra food when they eat dinner;.  Eliza and Alex continue to give her subcutaneous Lactated Ringers every evening, to help flush out her kidneys, and Lou still has a great spirit to continue on, so Lou will be with Eliza and Alex, and the rest of the cats, as long as Louise wants to continue on.

And an updated report on Alex' Psychotic Break of last week:  While his doctors have said that this was caused by taking too much of his medications - pain medicines as well as heart medicines - it was exacerbated by the situation Eliza and Alex are in with the foreclosure of their home.

On March 1, they are to go to court in Newark, for a mediation meeting with representatives of their mortgage holder, to see if there is any way to get their mortgage modified, and to get the foreclosure date put off while Alex continues to try and find employment, of a level that will help pay the mortgage.

Thankfully, before Alex was laid off in December of 2008, Eliza and he had paid off all their credit cards but one - as that one saw others from their bank being paid off and tripled the interest and late fees, to ensure that Eliza and Alex would not be able to pay this one off so easily.

However, were Alex to gain employment at a reasonable salary, Eliza and he would be able to pay off the mortgage on a monthly basis, and pay their utilities as well.

Please, send Strong Prayers to Alex, and to Eliza, that the Divine Spirit is able to step in and surround them with protection at the mediation meeting, such that Eliza and Alex will be able to get the extension needed, and that Alex is able to get the work that he needs.  And we thank you All, for your Selfless Acts of Kindness and Prayers.

February 6, 2011

Alex Howard lost his common sense.  He had a psychotic break where he first put on about 8 warm sweatshirts and an equal  number of sweatpants, left them on for a while, and was completely without his normal balance, unable to walk without falling down.  Then he took a scissors and started cutting them off himself, started crying, and wouldn't let Eliza near him until he had cut all the sweatshirts off again.  Alex seems to be in a better place  now and quiet, and resting comfortably for now.  He has calmed down considerably.

Please send Strong Prayers to Alex, that he gets his mind together again, and that his outburst this morning does not permanently hurt him.

Thank you all for your concern.

February 6, 2011

Eirene's next door neighbor, Rob Carson, was on a ski trip when he ran smack into a tree.  It destroyed his back and hips and other areas, but did not damage his spin cord.

He will be in the hospital for a while in intensive care, while they put him pack together and the good news is that though he lost his job, he still has coverage until the end of this month.

Please send strong prayers to Rob to surround him with the blue blanket of healing so that he can get his strength and body back in good shape.  Thank you all for your prayers for Rob.

February 3, 2011

We ordinarily do not use Prayer Call for such reasons.  A letter was received from the New Jersey Supreme Court, by Eliza and Alex Howard.  Apparently on the first of March, the foreclosure proceedings will go into operation, and Eliza, Alex, their four cats and one bird, will most likely lose their home for the past 28 years.

Please click this link, to see the begging being done on their behalf.

Thank you.

Yesterday, Thai sent us all a note about Esmeralda:

"Our spiritual sister Esmeralda (Helen Peterson) needs our prayers for her physical and emotional well-being.  In addition she needs strong protection surrounding her teaching job."

Today, Thai followed that request with this poem that Alina (B) unearthed, so to speak, created by our sister Esmeralda.  Please read it through a few times, in order to get the message in the poem.  Esmeralda is going through some very deep changes right now, and we need to give her all the support we can, to help her through to clarity on the other side.  This is a poem she wrote a few years ago:

"INFINITE"

"Between oneness and separation

I grow;

in the silence of meditation.

I feel my dreams.

Awake

I forgot

My words ramble.

I missed the point

I miss the soul;

When I act

I forget to flow

I forget to think of others

I lose my way.

When I close my eyes again,

I see where to go.

In the silence I find

The words I need,

I feel the flow of love

The path opens.

Mortals speak in words

The soul speaks in light

The sentences of mortals are finite

The sentences of the soul art infinite.

Helen Peterson, December 1992

Signed:

Love,

Esmeralda"

Please send Strong Prayers to our friend, our spiritual sister, Esmeralda (Helen Peterson) needs our prayers for her physical and emotional well-being.  She has created a wonderful poem which can serve all of us - her extended family, along with her family and her close friends, and her students.  In short, all of those who she touches in all ways, may they be better for having met and touched.  And we Thank You All, for allowing the Divine Spirit to guide you to sending the prayers Esmeralda needs, to bring her Strength once again.

As Ellen pointed out a number of times, "The hardest thing to do, when we are going through heavy changes, is to remember that we are going through heavy changes!"  Pray that this insight is given to Esmeralda, to help lighten her load.  And thank you all for your support of our Darma Sister.

In an email from Eric G., we received this sad news:

The father of Eric's partner died on Saturday, January 22 in The Netherlands.  Your prayers of healing and support will be deeply felt and appreciated.

Wil Jobse (Sr.) was born in 1927 in The Hague, and had a long career with KLM Airlines. He is survived by his wife, Johanna Maria; his son Wil (Jr.) and partner Eric; daughter Jolanda, her husband Hans, and their three children Alexander, Caroleine and Deiderick.

Thank you,

Eric G.

We ask that you send Strong Prayers to Eric's father, Wil, that he has a smooth transition on the road to his next level, and equally strong Prayers to his entire family, that they can deal with their loss.  And the Divine Spirit will return your goodness, many-fold.

I have an anecdote regarding Laura Beaujon, and the early days of my (Alex')  friendship with Laura:

I had moved into Manhattan, to an apartment on 14th Street near 7th Avenue, when I met Ellen and other members of what was to become her "Group."

Laura was one of the early members, due to having met her through Donnie's former (or future ex-) mother-in-law, Betty Hannifin.

When Laura learned how barren, so to speak, my apartment was, she was kind enough to give me a plant, a pothos or philodendron plant.  I treated this plant like gold, watered it as told to, and so on, because I wanted to have something live in the apartment.

Later, I moved upstairs to a bigger apartment, then moved to New Jersey and while there, got married to Eliza and moved a few more times until we finally bought the house - the one we are struggling to keep.

Laura's plant kept growing and became large enough to put on a hanging planter.

From this plant, I was able to take cuttings and when they developed roots, plant the 'babies' in new pots, both hanging and stable.

It is now more than 40 years since Laura gave me this plant and it still grows, still gives me 'babies,' and continues to amaze me.  As the babies develop roots, again they go into planters of their own, to keep the house filled with growing things.

Eliza and I remain grateful to Laura for introducing growing things into our home so that, besides cats and a bird, we are able to foster growth in our home, as well as in Eliza's vegetable garden in the spring and summer.

For this, and many other reasons, we thank Laura Beaujon or, as Donnie lovingly called her, Laura Beaujolais (Laura knew!), for just one more thing.  Laura was (and still is) an amazing person.  She is probably teaching people on the next plane valuable lessons.

May the Divine Spirit Bless Laura and Guide her on her way to the next level.  Bless Laura and Bless you all.

Please note:  If anyone has short stories, anecdotes, about their relationship with Laura, please send them to Prayer Call by way of alexh1@verizon.net, and I will be sure to post them, perhaps -f necessary - on a separate page.  The name for this separate page may also be suggested by you all, the readers and contributors.  That page will reside here on Prayer Call, but again, separately from the main Prayer Requests.  Thank you All.

Report from the Howard recovery room:

First, Louise, our ailing kitty, continues to receive subcutaneous Lactated Ringers every evening.  While she doesn't like this treatment, and squirms a lot, she does put up with it long enough to get a dosage infused.

Next, Alex:  at nearly 6 PM Thursday, his doctor's office called, to let him know that they had scheduled Alex for a series of "foramina shots" in his lower Lumbar disks, from L3 to L5, for today, in the morning.  The shots were administered about 10:00 AM and he returned home by 11:30 AM.  Because of what they compound with the cortisone, a chemical similar to lidocain, and because they do put Alex to sleep for a short period, when he returned home, there was nearly no pain associated with his disks.  For the past two weeks or so, he had been experiencing nearly unbearable pain in his right side, down all the way through his right leg, to the bottom of the right foot.  This pain was temporarily discontinued but came back later in the evening.  The shots should provide increased relief after about two days, when the treatment has had time to work its way through the nerves and tissue.

Please send Strong Prayers to Louise, that she continues to respond to her daily treatment.  And wrap Louise in a Blue Blanket of Healing and comfort.

Please also send Alex Strong Prayers to reduce his back and kidney pains, so that he may live an existence of reduced pain.

And Thank You All for your Prayers and Help.  May the Divine Spirit return your Goodness to you, many-fold.

January 12, 2011

Thai relayed an email from Eirene:  1/11/11 as per this afternoon, surgery for Joan Doljan was changed from Wed 1/12/11 to Thursday 1/13/11.

She has to go to the hospital at 11:00 AM.  Surgery time is not known yet.  The doctor is supposed to put a plate or plates in her ankle/leg.

So please put this on the prayer list for Thursday Surgery 1/13/10.

Joan may be in the hospital several days. 201-315-6446.

Thanks,

Eirene

We pray that the doctors hands and eyes are guided so this is the only other surgery that is needed.  And for a speedy recovery.  Please send Strong Prayers that the surgery and afterwards are as pain-free as possible for Joan, and wrap her in a Healing Blue Blanket.  We Thank you All.

It is with great sadness that we pass along this message from JK:

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your support.

Laura passed over last night at 11:23. We went back to the hospital; it was quiet and peaceful after the helpful but intrusive busyness of the oxygen mask and tubes.

It was Laura's wish to be cremated; my brother and I will pass along information as we make arrangements.

Warm thanks,

JK

We will keep it short and simple.  Please, send Strong Prayers to Laura Beaujon, that she be guided on her new path.  We know the Divine Spirit will welcome her, and comfort her on her way.  And send Prayers of Strength and Comfort to Laura's family and extended family.

Peace.

Laura Beaujon

by the Newspaper of Record!

An article about our own Laura Beaujon, was published by the newspaper of record, the "New York Times," in 2007, when she was once again "discovered" by that paper.  The Times lauded Laura, for decades of her incredible work behind the lens.  We reprinted it here.

January 9, 2011

We do apologize for the delay in posting for Laura Beaujon.  We have been waiting for approval and suggestions from the family on what, exactly, to say.  As you all probably know by now, Laura is in a hospital, or hospice, using Oxygen to breathe, and sleeping a lot.  She is otherwise okay, so to speak.  Her broken bones have been attended to.  Here, now, the short posting from JK:

Hello All,

Nicole arrived yesterday afternoon and went to the hospital with Mackie, Tim came up, and Antonia and I arrived in the early evening.  We think Laura knew we were there because her respiration changed a little when we were talking, but she was not awake.

We will be meeting with a hospice nurse, probably Monday, to see if there is a more comfortable place for her to be.

Thank you,

JK

And from Regine, Jan 6, 2011:

We went to see Laura today.   I was a little more disturbed than ... let on in her e-mail.  It was hard to see Laura struggling to breathe, (though she was sleeping, the nurse said she doesn't talk very much even when she's awake because of the oxygen mask.)

I was sad that I wasn't able to talk to her, though I'm sure our presence was important.

Laura seemed very weak and I hope that she can fight the pneumonia off.  My prayers are with her.  Her prayers have gotten me through many difficult situations, and I feel so grateful to have her in my life.

She really does need our very strong prayers now.

xo

Regine

As has been said, Laura has sent so many of us Strong Prayers over the recent years, and those Prayers have helped us all, in so many ways.  Now is the time to crank up the Prayer Wheels, and send the Strongest Prayers from the Divine Spirit to Laura, and surround her with a healing blue blanket, for her comfort.  Please ask the Divine Spirit to send the Spirit Doctor, Thane Beltoth, to comfort Laura and bring her back to a Strong Healthy Place.  We thank you All for your Prayers and Selflessness on Laura's behalf.  May all goodness be returned to you, many-fold.  Peace and Blessings to all.

We received a request from Anne Bates, in the UK, relayed through Thai.  Minor edits have been made; no important information has been changed:

Dear Thai,

I'm writing to ask for prayers.

I have been suffering increasing breathlessness, after the slightest exertion, for the past few weeks, which I had thought was probably being caused by our very (untypical) cold weather.  Not so, I'm afraid.  My doctor says that my heart problems are worsening and I need to see a Cardiologist.  I have an appt on 1 February. In the meantime, even getting as far as the little corner shop for my newspaper is agony.  You will remember that the distance from my house to the shop is minimal. I'm staying positive, but being almost house-bound and experiencing restricted mobility is not good for me - either physically or emotionally.

I'm striving to stay strong. I hope that the Doctors will be able to stabilize my condition, so that I can return to my hitherto reasonably active life-style very soon (including visits to NYC).

Love,

Anne

Please send the Strongest of Prayers for Healing, and wrap Anne in the Blue Blanket of Healing.  Please also guide her cardiologist so that she/he finds the exact problem and provides a quick and perfect remedy soonest.  We pray for both Stabilization and Removal of the problems affecting her health.  Provide Anne with extra strength so that small tasks do not overwhelm her condition.  We thank you for your Prayers and selflessness, and hope that the Divine returns all good things, many-fold.  Our Love and Prayers go to Anne Bates.

A short note:  Alex is able to post requests on Prayer Call now.  So long as he does not have to spend hours at the computer, he can handle this.  He will be seeing two specialists on Monday and Tuesday of next week, to get fresh ideas about his ridiculous number of problems and, hopefully, some solutions.  Thank you all for your Prayers and good wishes.  They do help Alex, though his ability to walk and sit in one position is still a daunting task at times.

January 2, 2011

A brief note:  Alex will post to Prayer Call as soon as he is physically able to sit in front of his computer again, due to his physical pain.  We are all hoping that it won't be more than a few more days.

Thank you all for your patience.

Happy New Year to All!

With Apologies to all, also.

It has been learned that Joan Doljan broke her ankle in three separate places, apparently doing cartwheels from her front porch to the sidewalk.  Somehow, nobody had warned her before this that cartwheels are not the best way to move from the porch to the sidewalk.

The best news is that a friend is taking care of her animals (cats) while Joan is in Palisades Medical Center, where they either have already done surgery, or will do surgery, to make her all better.

With your Strong Prayers, and with you wrapping Joan in a Blue Blanket of Healing, and finally, with you guiding her surgeons hands while they do the surgery then we can feel secure in the knowledge that Joan will be coming out of the hospital soon ... but not by doing cartwheels.

Please, please do send Strong Prayers to Joan, to help her heal faster than normal, and allow her to continue having a generally good outlook while she is in the hospital.  We know that with your help, Joan will heal just nicely, and has found a new way to get out of work for a while.

Happy New Year to Joan, and to All of You who spread the Divine Healing Vibration to Joan, and to all who need healing, and may the Best Prayers be returned to you many-fold.  Thank you all for your Prayers and Caring.  Bless you all!

A quick update on Louise, Eliza and Alex' 17 year old cat, who is suffering from kidney problems.  They are giving Lou subcutaneous fluids daily, along with her food and normal water.  While she has not gotten any worse, she has gotten slightly better.  There really is not way to tell how much better she has gotten but Eliza and Alex will continue to treat her in the best ways possible, according to the Veterinarians, and do everything to help keep her going.

We ask that you send Strong Prayers for Healing and Painlessness to Louise, so that she can get better slowly and surely.  She des not want to leave us, and we certainly are not ready to let her go.  Her Spirit is very strong, and that helps her to heal.

Please do send Louise Strong Prayers for Healing and Wrap Her in a Blue Blanket of Healing, and help her to become healthy again.

And thank you all for your help and your Prayers, and all that you do to help this small person to heal.  Bless you all or al that you do.

We have learned that Alex' back went completely over the edge late Monday / early Tuesday, such that he was completely unable to walk, or even move a little bit, without the most excruciating pain al un and down his right side.  Having had a lot of pain over the years, Alex stated that this has to be probably the most incredible pain he has ever experienced from his back.  Unfortunately, with no pain medicine in the house, Alex spent Tuesday through Friday morning in bed, except when he crawled to the bathroom, to relieve himself.  Then, back to bed and sleep, if possible, or watching TV, hopefully to put him to sleep.

We ask that you Send any spare prayers towards Alex to help relieve his pain and discomfort.  This morning, he was able to get to the pharmacy - Eliza drove, with no backseat driving from Alex (he was in the front seat!) and they picked up his weekly allotment of pain medicine.  While it usually takes one, or possibly two of those lollypops to relieve extreme pain, Alex is already on his 5th within a 4 hour period, and the pain is finally diminishing somewhat.

We can only ask that if you have any Spare Prayers for Healing to send Alex way, please ask the Divine Spirit to wrap Alex in a blue blanket of healing to relieve his pain and discomfort until this attack goes away.

There is actually a small possibility that Alex will accompany Eliza to the New Year's Party tonight, if the pain has lessened enough and if he can make it up the stairs in Thai's building.

We thank you all for the constant incredible Strong Prayers you have sent Alex' way over the years, and especially lately, to help him make it through this series of disabling situations.  May you All be Blessed with the Best that the New Year can bring you, and may you also have the best of health going forward.  And we thank you all for the Divine Spirit's Strong Prayers to help Alex and Joan heal as quickly and painlessly as possible; may your Prayers and Good Wishes be returned to you all, many-fold.

And may the Divine Bless you all, very much!

We received a request from Gary Michael:

I want to ask if you can send out a prayer on the Prayer site:

I have been struggling since August with an old back injury that you may remember that Ellen asked the group to pray during the surgery in the late 1980's.

In August, due to a masseur (which I will not do again), my left leg and left foot have been weaker and pulling severely with weakness in my left toes. I have had three cortisone injections from Sept to Dec. and every day has been a struggle to walk and function - today is a little better and I am in physical therapy.

I am asking for continued prayers since another surgery may not be an option and past prayers have worked to keep me walking.

Thank you all and have a happy holiday and new year.

Gary Michael

Dear Divine Extended Family.  Please Send Gary Michael Special Strong Prayers to overcome the damage done by a masseuse and manipulator, who caused more damage to Gary Michael than was repaired.  May your Healing Prayers overtake the pain and suffering he goes through, until that pain is gone for good.  and our Thanks to you all.

We received an email from Thai:

Dear Friends,

Just to let you know that our dharma sister Esmeralda Peterson is in emotional distress and needs strong prayers.  She has asked me to send out this email because she is certain that our prayers will help her.

Thank you in advance for reaching out to her through prayer.

Love,

Thai

Please, send Strong Healing and Calming Prayers to Esmeralda, that she get past her emotional distress and into a quiet, calm state again.  And our Thanks to All.

Prayer Call has suggested to Regine, that we be allowed to post for her!  Regine has been suffering from, and recovering very slowly from, a stomach virus.  She has had this for more than four days, so we need to send Strong Prayers Regine's way.  Please pray that she gets enough fluids in her system, as a stomach virus has a nasty side-effect of dehydrating the patient.

We should also Pray that the Divine Spirit Envelope Regine in the Blue Blanket of Healing and Love, and keep her there until the Healing has completed.

We thank you All, for your generosity, especially in this time of year, when your focus is on things other than the Healing that our Extended Family needs.

s

With that in mind, we ask for further healing Prayers, and Prayers for Strength for the following:  Valerie's sister, Carey, who will be having her first Cyber Knife treatment tomorrow through Tuesday.

Carey will be having the Cyber Knife treatment again in a week following this initial treatment.  We Pray that the Doctors and Technicians' focus be as finely tuned upon Carey as the laser is tuned in upon her tumor, and that the team eradicate all which is negatively effecting Carey.  We further Pray that these treatments bring Carey out the other side, feeling well, strong, and healthy!

And we Thank You All for your incredible Spiritual Support for Valerie's sister Carey.  May the Divine Spirit Bless you all and return your energy, many-fold!  Thank you so very much.

s

Also, please send Strong Healing to Eliza and Alex' little friend, Louise - aka Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy, who has spent her 17 year existence as a cat providing healing to Eliza and Alex, and their other cats.  Louise is recovering, slowly, from a kidney ailment, which is normal for aging felines.  Lou looks and acts somewhat better lately, and continues to get subcutaneous fluids daily.

In addition, please send a few spare Healing Prayers to Alex, who is having his periodic roller-coaster of Renal Failure and is in a valley, having been in a peak only a couple days ago.  It seems a normal experience, that he go through the up and down on a monthly or six week schedule.

We received an update from Valerie on her sister, Carey:

My sister Carey has started her chemo, and is tolerating it relatively well so far.  On Monday December 20th she will begin 5 days of cyber knife therapy, a very narrow-beam, focused, computer-guided radiation treatment intended to strike only the tumor with great intensity.  I would like to request prayers that the cyber knife treatment target the tumor with great effectiveness and not harm any adjacent non-cancerous tissues.  Right now she's scheduled for Dec. 20-22 and then again on the 27th and 28th.

Thanks to you, for posting, and my heartfelt thanks to all who are praying for my sister.

Love,

Valerie

As we have asked our Extended Family before, this is a Prayer Wheel Event, which begs the Most Powerful Prayers you can give, to surround Carey with the Blue Blanket of Healing, and to guide the surgeons' and technicians' energies to focus directly and specifically on the tumor and eradicating it in the most safe manner possible.  Please, continue sending your Prayers to Carey and all involved, so that she come out the other side of this with renewed strength and vigor and Energy of Life.  And Thank you All, for your incredible giving.  May the Divine Spirit return your Energies to you, many-fold.

December 17, 2010

We have an update on Louise, Eliza and Alex' little kitty:  Louise has been receiving subcutaneous fluids on a daily basis, to enhance her system's ability to flush away the poisons of her kidney issues, and her appetite for foods of the feline and human kind is amazingly strong.  In addition, she is drinking lots of water, but the subcutaneous fluids are necessary to rid her of the poisons.  She is still staying in her ICU unit - the second floor bathroom - where she is most of the time, but she shows more strength and for that, and your Prayers, we are truly grateful.  Please, if you can spare more Prayers for Louise, send them her way, to help her heal and come out of this with good life force and vigor.  Bless You All, for helping a little four-legged person to heal as you do,  You are all truly incredible and we thank you so much!

December 10, 2010

Dear Friends and Extended Family.

As I sit here and write this, tears well up in my eyes.  I don't know how much more I can ask of you, to send Strong Healing Prayers to Louise, our 17 year old kitty.  Throughout her entire life, Lou has been our healer, finding ways to heal Eliza and Alex, and the other cats, when necessary.

Well, it's now necessary to send the Strongest Prayers to surround Louise with a Blue Blanket of Love and Healing, such that she is strong in everybody's inner picture, their inner view, wrapped in that Healing Blanket of Love and Spiritual Strength.

Louise is our baby, and it is tearing us apart to watch her lose weight, and not to be able to do anything to help her.

Please ask the Divine Spirit to help wrap healing of all kinds around Louise, so that she will be able to pull through this, just as she has been able to pull Alex through all the serious ailments Alex has had in the past few years, when he was hospitalized, and she found him in the Spirit, so that he would not be alone during the night time, when he needed the Spirit to heal him.  Please find the Spirit Doctor, Thane Beltoth, to come and Heal Louise, in the same way that she has been able to bring Thane Beltoth along to heal our Family and Friends.

Please ask the Spirit to bring Louise through this with renewed strength and energy, so that she can continue to keep healing Eliza and Alex throughout all of their ailments.

If it would help, Alex would give himself for Louise, just to have her healthy again.

We can only thank you all for your Prayers and Through your Strength, your ability to heal Louise.  Alex remembers when you all sent the Spirit to heal Alex, to heal Hash, so that he was able to be around to help Alex fulfill the work that the Divine Spirit has had for him.  In that same way, please give the Spirit the strength so that Louise can continue her work.

Thank you all for your Love, your Strength, and your Prayers.  We hope that the Divine Spirit gives you all the strength to help bring Louise through.  And May your Prayers and Strength be returned to you, many-fold.  God Bless you all!

Eliza and Alex.

In a short but sweet email, JK asked me to post this about Laura Beaujon:  For posting:

Laura seems to be adjusting well to her new residence in a memory care facility.  Her roommate, a Japanese-American lady, seems sweet and welcoming.  We couldn't have asked for a better first evening, and hope it continues to be a good fit for her.

Thanks!

J

We have been asked to keep JK as just that, for legal reasons related to her work. And about Laura herself, it was also suggested that we not post anything until we all knew more.  She had fallen, she was fine, she wasn't fine. ad nauseum.  So we waited until JK came up from her school, and took charge, and now we ask for your Strong Prayers for Laura, such that she gets her memory - of all levels - back, and she regains her independence, too.  Laura has been one of the best friends I have ever had, having taken me in during my first "real" year in New York.  Though' I lived with my brother in Brooklyn for a bit more than a year, I cannot say that counts.  Laura made New York Real for me, and treated me like a long lost friend.  I watched as she treated everybody with graciousness and with love, and learned a lot about how to deal with people in New York.  Please, send Very Strong Prayers to help Laura Heal, send equally Strong Prayers for Tim and JK to be calm and relaxed, and not concerned while Laura is living in the special place.  She will come out of it much stronger and better than when she went in.  And our Love To You All!

Dear Friends and Extended Family.  We are experiencing a problem that many cat lovers experience, when their cats reach an age.  I, too, am having some of the same symptoms.  Renal Failure.  I have been in hospital many times for renal failure.

Louise, of "Thelma and …" our two oldest cats who are sisters, and both now over 17 years old, has been experiencing a problem with her thyroid for a few years.  However, she just started, about a year ago or so, having problems with her kidneys.  Most veterinarians will tell you that it is a cat's lot, when they reach an age, to begin suffering from kidney problems, and Louise is no exception.

We love Louise dearly; have called her Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy, from some old book Alex read when he was very young, because whenever one of us has been sick, she has zeroed in on that part of the body where the illness is, and quietly sat either on it or near it, bringing her warmth and love and healing to it.  The thought of losing her is extremely difficult to take.  We will do nothing to speed the situation along in any way.  The longer she stays with us, the happier she and we will be.  While we both believe very much in the ‘quality of life,’ Louise will be with us so long as we can determine that she is not experiencing any pain or suffering in any way at all.

All we ask of you is if you have a few minutes each day, please send Strong Healing Prayers to Louise.  Maybe you can help her feel better and who knows, heal a bit, too.  Surround her with a blue blanket of Healing and Love.  And send Eliza and Alex some Prayers for their own Strength, that they can deal with Louise as she goes through what may indeed be her "farewell tour."  We Love Louise Dearly and of course, do not want to lose her.  If we do, she has been an exceptional friend and companion for all of her years, more so than any cat we have had before her.  So, please do Help in any way you can, and our Prayers to you, in return.  Thank you all, so very much.

We received an email from Regine, who is passing along one from a dear friend of hers.  We all have had four-legged friends over our lives, so we thought this might be important to pass along in the Prayer Call fashion:

I know that you do not usually print prayers for others, but my friend Kathy, who lives in Puerto Rico, has a beautiful dog named Peggy Sue who has gotten suddenly ill... Those of us with pets will all be interested to be aware of what the symptoms are in Peggy Sue ... If you can find it in your heart to put in a prayer call for her we would much appreciate it... Thanks Alex...

Regine

She writes the following:

Dear Friends and Family,

Many of you know, and all of you have heard about, my dog Peggy Sue.

She is currently very ill, with seizures and other symptoms.  The vet has her stabilized on meds, but still doesn't know what is causing the problems.  She's ruled out a number of things, but Peggy's going to need a full blood panel to (hopefully) figure it out.  She won't be able to have that until next Monday because of the meds she was given yesterday at the vet and will be taking for the next two days.

At the moment she's doing all right:  the seizures have diminished drastically and she's eating and getting around a little bit.

This email is for two reasons:

Firstly, for those of you with dogs, this started with a bloody nose out of nowhere, which neither I nor any of the people I spoke to who have dogs had ever heard of.  According to the vet it's a sure sign that the dog's blood has gotten thin, whatever the cause.  So if this happens to your dog, please get it to the vet as soon as possible for a blood test.  It can be caused by a number of things, many of which are treatable with either simple meds like antibiotics or a change in diet.

Secondly, I'd truly appreciate any good wishes, prayers, candle-lighting, wishing on a star or however you deal with the Great Unknown out there on Peggy's behalf.  You all know how much this dog means (and has meant) to me over the nine years I've had her, and especially now when we're strangers in a strange land together.  (Actually, she adjusted faster and better than I have!)  So, thanks for your good thoughts, and I'll keep you all posted on how she's doing after her tests next Monday.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and a very special thanks to Patty, Ray, Ramon, Jaiq and Jamie, who rallied together in an amazing way when this happened and made getting Peggy Sue in for treatment and back home in a comfortable manner much easier.  (Almost needless to say, I was something of a basket case!)

Love and good holidays to all.  Give your pets a special hug and be thankful they're not scaring the heck out of you with weird symptoms.

All my best, Kathy

Please do send Strong Healing Prayers to Peggy Sue, and Send Calm Vibes to Kathy, so she can handle what is happening with her little friend.  And we Pray Peggy Sue does get better very quickly.  Thank you All.

On November 19, Prayer Call received an email from Su, with an email from her dear friend Aszmara attached.  With apologies for the delay, we bring these to you now:

Dear Prayer Call:

Attached is an email from my dear friend Aszmara regarding the passing of her Dad.

I ask that prayers for a smooth transition for her Dad be sent to him and that prayers of comfort, strength and healing be sent to Aszmara and her family during this time.

Thank you.

Su

My Dear Friends,

On the morning of November 18th, holding my Mother's hand, my Father passed away quietly and without pain.  His last night was with a gathering of his wife, daughters and granddaughter as we celebrated his life, his love, his mischief,  the good works he gave to this world and the examples of living that he gave to us.  His life was blessed and we are blessed to keep his spirit within us.  I and my family thank you for your prayers, good wishes and support over these past few difficult months.  Be well and hold your family and friends close this Thanksgiving as I hold you close to my heart with Blessings.

Love,

Aszmara

There is not much else that Prayer Call can add, save for requesting Strong Prayers to help Aszmara's Father find his way in the transition period, and Prayers of Strength for Aszmara's family, that they are calm and able to go on, knowing that Father is in good hands, and will be fine.  Thank You, and Bless You for your Generosity of Spirit.

We received an email from Valerie and it was marked as urgent, so at 5 AM, we are posting this:

Hi, Alex,

I have an urgent request for prayers for my sister, Carey, who has recently been diagnosed with advanced, inoperable pancreatic cancer.  Our family is just devastated for her.  When it was first diagnosed, from elevated liver enzymes, she had no symptoms, but it appears to be progressing rather rapidly and she is now in considerable pain and suffering from nausea.  I ask for prayers for her healing and her comfort, and especially for relief from pain.

With thanks to all healers, both in spirit and on the earth.

Love,
Valerie

Folks, this is a devastating illness.  It is time once again, to bring out the Big Guns - the Prayer Wheels, and send the Strongest Prayers to Carey, to help heal the pancreatic cancer, to Bring down the level of pain, and to help provide Calm to the family.  Most of all, to Wrap Carey in a Healing Blue Blanket, and ask the Divine Spirit to send a specialist her way.  This doctor is named Thane Beltoth, and his area of expertise is strictly in the Spirit and on that level, where he can bring healing to those of us on this level.

We need the Strength of the Divine Spirit to provide Comfort to Carey as she goes through this terrible illness, and we need the extra Strength of Prayers to help Carey get better.  With All of our Love and Healing Prayers, it is possible for Carey to come out on the other end of this illness a survivor.  Let us all pray that this is indeed possible for Carey.  And our thanks to all!

It is so good to get positive news to post!  Today we heard from Elizabeth Rose, so we wanted to pass her message along to all:

Thank you for the prayers you are sending my cousin, Jean.  As of yesterday, I found out that she is responding more significantly mentally.

She is even writing down a few words to communicate with her daughter, Georgette.  She is now able to sit in a chair with help.  Soon, the care-giving team at her new facility will start her on more physical therapy.

I thank you, with all my heart, for your continuing prayers.

Elizabeth Rose.

It is truly wonderful to hear that a person is improving, and to know that your Prayers have had something to do with that improvement.  We can only Thank You All, from the bottom of our hearts, for sending such Strong Healing Prayers to Jean, and ask that you continue to keep her wrapped in that Blue Blanket of Healing, to help her make even more forward progress!  Thank you All!

And May the Divine Bless You All!

Having had the distinct pleasure of meeting a wonderful actress, Jill Clayburgh, once, I felt it was a necessary thing to do, to post this to Prayer Call:

Jill Clayburgh, "known for portrayals of empowered women" on stage and screen, and Oscar-nominated for her take on a divorcee in the 1978 film An Unmarried Woman, died yesterday at 66, after a 21-year battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.  Jill lived her life with joy in her heart and a smile that started on her face but went all the way through her existence.  Her family and her friends will miss her terribly.

Please send Strong Prayers to guide Jill into the next phase of her existence, so that the change of existences does not take her too much by surprise.  Jill was not only a wonderful actor, but also a lovely person, who truly cared about other people, and about how they got along on this level of existence.  She was a true "mensch" and an example to all of how to live a life of giving and love.  I pray that she makes the change without too much sadness or shock.  Thank you all for your Prayers for Jill.  Bless you, and may the Divine Spirit Bless you with hope and Love.

We received this from Su:

"Dear Prayer Call:

Sunday around 3:00am, I got up to go to the ladies room. As I got up, I felt a searing pain below my tummy that was shooting down my right groin. I went to work on Monday using a cane, came home and wasn't able to move. I called my doctor and yesterday I had my pelvis and both my hips  x-rayed. Result: everything  OK. The pain in the groin  is awful and the Doctor gave a diagnosis as "Strained Hip" because the muscles that are injured surround the right hip. At the present time I'm using my crutches from my first hip replacement that was done in 1997!

I'd appreciate prayers so that I can heal speedily. I'll be away from work for 3 weeks. and will be off my feet so that I can heal in the right way.

Your prayers would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Su Nissan"

Please send Strong Healing Prayers to Su, that she heals quickly and is relieved of her pain soonest.  And thank you all, so very much, for your Caring and your Prayers.  Bless You All!

We received this email from Elizabeth Rose:

Please send prayers for my closet cousin, Jean, she is 61 years and just
suffered a double stroke.  The doctors did major brain surgery on her
without first taking a cat scan.  The cat scan would have showed that the
damage was too severe for surgery.

They went ahead with the surgery anyway.  As a result she was in a coma for a while then paralyzed all along her right side. She can't speak, hardly recognizes family members and is severely brain damaged. She's going to spend the rest of her life in a nursing home.  Please pray that she will recover some of her physical and mental abilities.

Thank you.

Elizabeth Rose

Please send the Strongest of Prayers for Elizabeth's cousin Jean, that she might recover some of her faculties and not live like a vegetable, as it appears she might.  And Strong Prayers for Elizabeth and the rest of her family, that they can remain calm during this difficult time.  Thank you all for your kindness.

Just a brief message to let you know that Alex is responding to his medication, and his Kidney Disease has quieted down once again.  He saw one of his doctors yesterday, and they took samples which should be back Monday.  In the interim, he will be seeing his Urologist next week, for more tests on the kidneys - both of which seem to be giving him problems lately.  If there is any further news, we will post it here.

Thank you all, for all of your Strong Prayers.  Clearly, they have helped Alex once again, as the lessening of pain and discomfort shows.  Thank you all very much!

October 29, 2010

We had two emergency calls from Eliza's sister, Helene.  One around 8 AM, and another just now, to give us details.

Her husband, Stephen, had another attack last night and early this AM and has been taken to the ER.  What they have found, so far, is his blood level is low, so they will transfuse him with a pint or more.  His white blood count is over 22,000, which indicates infection, so they are giving him antibiotics by IV.  His lungs are filled with fluid; they don't know exactly why yet. They had to put a tube down his nose, to give him the medicines that they cannot give by IV.   And more.  He will be taken up to the ICU as soon as they clear him from the ER.  Right now, he cannot even respond to his name.

We need Very Strong Prayers for Stephen, so that he is able to heal quickly, and come back to a better place soonest.  And Strong Prayers for Helene, so that she is able to remain calm because, even though she is a nurse, she cannot retain the detachment she does with her patients, for obvious reasons.  Please wrap them both in a Blue Blanket of Healing and Strength.  And we thank you all, and we Pray that your Incredible Goodness be returned to you many-fold.  And our Love to You.

We received an email from Su, and have posted it below, along with the email from her dear friend.

Here's an email that I 'm forwarding on to you for posting.
Aszmara has been a dance colleague and a good friend for years to numerous to tally. I ask that the Prayer Call Circle send Aszmara, her dad and her family prayers of strength, courage and healing. It would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,

Dear Sabah,

My Dad has been in the hospital and rehab since the last week of August - after a long standing and winning battle with prostate cancer, his body is succumbing to the disease as well as the ravages of the medications.

Yesterday, he was put back into the hospital with kidney failure. I am not sure if he rallies from this - I am preparing for his journey and appreciate prayers for this good man...

Love To You,

Aszie

Please send Strong Healing and Calmness Prayers for Su's friend and her Father and Family.  They need all the help we can give them.  Thank you all.

s

Once again, Alex is having problems with his Kidney Disease.  We only ask for Prayer to help him Heal and get Stronger again.

Thank you very much.

While we are not completely certain about these facts, we do want to get the word out, so that prayers may follow.  We pray that her daughter will set us completely straight, in the mean time.

It is our understanding that Laura Beaujon is having some problems with her cognitive abilities ... otherwise known as a mild case of dementia.

Laura does not want to have anyone come into her apartment to clean for her, or to help her get things straightened up, so that she might find things she needs.

What we are asking the Group to do, is to Send the Strongest Prayers that you possibly can, to Ask the Spirit to Protect Laura in Every Way Possible, such that her mental abilities return to her in full strength, and bring back her amazingly Strong Mental Abilities on all areas.

Laura, many of you know, is a Lady with an incredible history of life (no Pun intended) as a photographer for magazines, like Life, Look, The New Yorker, and other Top of the Line Magazines from the 30s until the 50s or 60s.  Laura could practically write her own ticket for Photographic Assignments both here, in the USA, and on the other side of this incredible world.  She was, as they say, one of the very best.

Please, send Strong Prayers to Laura, so that her cognitive abilities return to her with the greatest of strength and her abilities come back, too.  Grant her the ability to find the right person to Sit with her, and Write a Book based upon her extremely incredible life as a photographer ... and no, she was not a paparazza, but someone with the Skills and Honor and Ability to capture the most incredible photos of her time.  Then that book, "Life with Laura," can help to pay for her necessities, going forward.  If it makes more sense to put it on the Internet, we can buy her a Domain Name - "Life with Laura" - and hosting fees, so that the "ghost writers" can put it all up there.

Thank you all for your Strength and Prayers to get Laura back to strength again.  And Bless you all for your help.

Just when things seemed to be nice and quiet - Alex not in hospital, no one else in distress ... we received this email from Martin McNamara, Down Under:

I am without a home computer at the moment, so writing from the Apple store in Sydney.  Could you please pass on a request to Prayer-call for me.

Mum has been having trouble drinking and eating and was admitted to Montefiore (Hospital) on Monday last,

for dehydration.  She turned 92 in September.  They found fluid around her heart and in her lungs and moved her to the cardio ward, after removing the fluid.  I am scheduled to arrive in NYC on 10 November for my niece's wedding, but may come earlier if things take a turn for the worse.  Mum is in Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, New York.

My citizenship ceremony and passport interview are scheduled for next week but can be postponed.

Please send strong healing prayers for Agnes McNamara and for me to be guided.  Guide me guard me and protect me.

Thanks and love,

Martin

Please All, Crank up the Prayer Wheels, Sit Down in front of your alters, and start sending Specially Strong Prayers to Martin and his mother.  Agnes who, at 92, has gotten problems with fluid around her heart and has been put in hospital, needs the attention not only of the fine doctors in Australia, but of those in the Spirit, as well.  There is a Spirit Doctor - a Specialist named Thane Beltoth - who has pulled many of us out of the fire and put us back in the column of the living, and living well.  Pray that Thane will visit Agnes and turn her situation around for her.  And give Extra Special Strength to Martin, so that he need not worry, because the Spirit is truly surrounding Agnes with a blue blanket of Healing, Strength, and Love.  And, as always, Thank You All, for your incredible strength to lend to one of our extended family, no matter how far away he may be.  May your Strength and Energy be returned to you, Many-Fold!  Love to you All!

On Thursday last, October 14, Eliza and Alex celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary.  On Saturday last, a small dinner was held for Thai's birthday.  A Grand Time was had by all!

Otherwise, we have been fortunate to say that there have been no health problems to report or for which to post notes on Prayer Call.

May the Divine Spirit Bless YOU ALL with continued good health and good spirits.  And may you all be surrounded by LOVE and HAPPINESS.

We heard from Gary Michael, who asked us to renew his requests for prayers.

What he said is, "What it is - is that I have no disc left in that part of the vertebrae due to past trauma on my spine," and - from personal experience - that means bone on bone, which makes the pain travel down either or both legs, to his hips, then his knees, then finally his feet where it can be either intense pain, or almost complete numbness.  Either way, Gary Michael has an extremely difficult time trying to walk or otherwise function like that.

We ask that you all send the Most Strong Prayers you can, to help generate healing for Gary Michael, so that his pain is alleviated, and he can function more normally with this situation.

We Thank you all for your kindness and generosity, and your strong prayers to help Gary Michael, and to help guide his doctors to help him in the best ways possible.  And may your Prayers be returned to you, many-fold.

First, a status report on the Prayer Call web site:  Alex is back on-line, so to speak, and will be posting Prayer Requests on a limited basis.  Please refer to your guidelines, and send in your requests.

Thank you all for your prayers for my conditions:  COPD, Kidney Disease, Gastro complications, and the damaged disks.  I cannot find words to cover how grateful I am for all of your Strength and Healing, without which it is possible that I probably would no longer be able to write Prayer Call.  As well, your strength and prayers served to hold Eliza in their embrace, so that she was able to help me to heal.

I truly wish to offer prayers that this incredible Strength be returned to you, many, many-fold.

Love,

-a.

s

Prayer call received Gary Michael's request, as sent to Thai, and contacted Gary Michael, to ask if he wanted his request on the web site; he does.  This, from Gary Michael:

"I am asking for prayers - I have been struggling to walk (for the past month - now with a cane, limping with pain) as I did when Ellen asked the group to pray for me when I was getting back surgery in 1987.

The disc in my back is almost all gone and the nerve down the left leg is pulling my foot severely.  I went to get an epidural injection on Sept 17th but it is not yet taking effect (& I go on Oct 1st for a 2nd one).

I had to cancel a few of my clients last week - please send strong prayers for me to be able to function, to be able to help others as I have been doing.

Also I had to recently go on medications for the first time in my life (July) & I am doing better now with the other 'big' problem - please send prayers - thank you so much.

Love,

Gary Michael"

Please send Strong Prayers of Healing and Strength to Gary Michael to enable him to walk with no pain.  Also, to guide his doctors to deliver the next cortisone shot to the exact position necessary to relieve this intense pain and discomfort.  And we ask that you send Strong Healing Prayers to help Gary Michael with his other "big problem."  Protect him with your Blue Blanket of Healing, and bring the Divine Spirit Doctors to consult and heal.  Thank you all for your selflessness; may your goodness be returned to you all, many-fold.

Alex serious problems began on August 20, after an angiogram at Englewood Hospital.  (The results were good!)  He had completely lost his appetite and could not sleep.  He tossed and turned so much, that Eliza slept on the couch.

The next evening, Alex began projectile vomiting, on an nearly empty stomach.

Sunday, again, the same.  Only this time, he must have aspirated something, because all of a sudden, he was completely unable to breathe.  An ambulance was called, and they stabilized Alex then took him to the ER at Palisade Medical Center, at about 1:30 AM.  By late Monday morning, Alex had finally been admitted to their cardiac floor but, due to his heart having not been adversely affected, they moved him to a general medical floor, the fifth, on Wednesday.  (This was especially important because he had had a roommate who was constantly making loud noise.  Very ill, with dementia setting in, the man, for whom Alex prayed a lot, was in serious condition, of a different type than Alex.)

They did many tests, found that Alex had a bacteria growing in his urinary tract, so they also did a cystoscopy.  (This may be called a medical procedure, but they probably also used it in Iraq to try to get information from spies.)

Finally, late Thursday evening, Alex was sent home with prescriptions to take, and guidelines to follow, and gratitude in his heart, for all the prayers sent his way by all of you, and for Eliza's incredible strength to take care of everything while Alex was away.  The cats, however, were mostly pissed at his absence, but that is a story for another time.

I thank you all for every single Prayer you sent me.  I feel terrible for having to ask for prayers so many times in the recent past.  I will do my best to keep my name off the Prayer Call pages in the future.

Thank you all, once more, for your incredible selflessness, your Strength, your Caring, and all you have done and continue to do for me and Eliza.

s

August 18, 2010

Just a brief note:  Alex has been released from the hospital.  This was August 18, when all he had was an angiogram.  They did the Angiogram, and happily, they found nothing more upon which to perform any procedures.

They love to explain, as a patient is coming out of anesthesia, and can barely remember her/his name, what they did or did not find.  Fortunately, Eliza actually knows a lot more about Alex' conditions.  But the good news is there was no Bad News.

Thank you All for your Strong Prayers for all involved.  May they be returned to you many-fold!

The posting about our soldiers has been moved, as they are now on their way home.  We thank the Divine Spirit for their safe return.

In an email from Martin, we learned this:  "Just wanted to share some good news:

Received a letter from Immigration today confirming my application for Australian Citizenship has been approved.

They'll let anybody in.   :O))

Glad it came through when it did, as there's an election on here at the moment and one of the issues being debated is around curbing immigration and keeping a small Australia.  Immigration has been running at 2.1%, one of the highest rates in the world, but they are finding they are not keeping up in terms of infrastructure (e.g. houses, schools, hospitals, public transport, ...).   There are now 22.5 million people in Australia, land mass roughly equivalent to mainland USA.

One of the side affects is that property values keep going up (not a bad thing in the current global economic climate  but the bubble could burst). On the flip side one of the arguments for maintaining a high immigration intake (300,000 immigrated to Australia last year vs. 100,000 new births) is to grow the tax base to support the baby boomers in retirement.

It becomes official once I attend a Citizenship ceremony, which is up to 6 months away.

It's good cause I can keep my US citizenship and spend an extended period out of the country if I want and not lose my residency rights.  As a Permanent Resident, which is my current visa, I have to spend two of every five years living in Australia to maintain residency.  I also get to vote here now, voting is mandatory (they fine you if you don't vote) and am eligible for consular assistance if I get in trouble overseas.

Aussie, aussie, aussie,

Love and hugs,

Martin"

In an email from Jo Anne Klement, we received this request:  "Dr. Tom Little, the doctor murdered by the Taliban in Afghanistan last week, was the brother of Jimmy Little, a very close friend of mine in college.

If it is possible, could prayers be sent for a good transition for Tom, and strong prayers of healing for his family.

Thank you,

Jo Anne "

We couldn't have said it any better:  Please send Strong Prayers that Tom Little makes a gentle transition to the next level, given the rough way he was made to move there.  And Strength to his entire Family, too.  May the Divine Spirit Bless you all.

An Angiogram for Alex

Friends,

Next Wednesday, August 18, 2010, I will be going into Englewood Hospital for a test called an angiogram.  I have to be there at 7 AM!  Depending upon what they see when they're in there, I may also be having another angioplasty.

What are these things?

From the Internet, this is the description of an angiogram:

Most heart disease is caused by atherosclerosis, a narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries that convey blood to the heart. A test called an angiogram can show the degree of arterial blockage by enabling the healthcare provider to observe the blood flow to the heart through those arteries.

In an angiogram, a flexible catheter or tube is inserted into an artery, usually in the groin area, and guided through the arterial system into the heart and into the coronary arteries. A dye is then injected through the catheter into the bloodstream and x-rays of the heart and coronary arteries are taken.

Also from the Internet, here is what they say about an angioplasty:

Under local anesthesia, an x-ray guided catheter is inserted into an artery in your leg or arm and a second, balloon-tipped catheter is placed within it. With the help of a guide wire, the balloon catheter is advanced to the area of the blockage and inflated and deflated several times until the blockage is successfully compressed and the narrowed artery is widened.

So, I will go in on Wednesday, and they will do the angiogram.  If they find what they expect to find, based upon the tests I underwent last week, they will let me come home right away.  If not, I will get an angioplasty.

Then, they will release me to go home, sometime on Thursday, and I’ve been told that I must stay home on Friday.

Please do not be concerned; my cardiologist is very, very good.

Love.

All I ask is some special Prayers for Strength, that I can get through these tests with both my health and sense of humor, and even more Prayers for Eliza, who will be with me all the way.  She is incredible, and I would not have gotten this far without her.  And my thanks to you all, especially those of you who were able to visit with us for my birthday party on Saturday, the 7th of August - what very well may have been the last party at that location, or any location.  My Love to you all, my special Family.  I cannot tell you how much I love having such a special Extended Family!

We received an email request from Sabah, "Alex, I'm sending this request to you from a high school friend.  Do you think that even though the request doesn't, as I understand it, meet the criteria for Prayer Call requests could you use your judgment on this one and see if  it can be posted.

I am well aware that many of us do not believe in any war of any kind, and that this Prayer Request might be taken as a "support " of the war.  We are losing our young people who believe in what they're doing.  It might not be my personal take on things but the young people who have this belief need our prayers.

Thanks,

Su"

Su actually did get it right.  This person is a friend of hers from high school.  someone she knows directly and, as such, does qualify.  We need you to send Strong Prayers to all of our military people who are following their leaders into battle, to stop the enemy from making it to our shores, and from making our streets and cities from becoming the next war grounds.  And May your Prayers Keep our people Strong, help them to bring about a lasting peace, and bring them home in good health, good Spirits.  Thank you all.

Also, Alex and Eliza want to thank everybody who came to Alex' 64th Birthday barbeque.  It may very easily be the last such party in the back yard of their home, considering the situation they are in.  But it was a lively one, for there being fewer than 10 guests there.

We thank you all for showing your support and your kindness, and for bringing such Positive and Wonderful Energies and Spiritual Values to the home on 79th Street.  Thank you all, and may your energies be returned to you, many fold.

PS:  Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm Sixty Four?"  (With thanks to John and Paul!)

Thank you for your prayers.  They are helping me to grow stronger physically, spiritually, economically -- more soul growth!

In an email from Su, we received this:  "Dear Prayer Call,

My friend, Dina Harris Walker, called me this afternoon requesting that prayers be sent to her dear high school friend, Arlene Steurzl.  Arlene  took ill suddenly and passed over on July 23, 2010.

I ask that prayers of protection and peace surround Arlene as she takes the next steps on the journey of her soul.

Dina thanks you all.

Please send Strong but Gentle Prayers to Arlene, that she be guided on her steps into the next level.  Thank you all for your generosity.

From Su, we received this:  Dear Prayer Call,

Little Miss Camiera Jade Miller came into this world 1 month and 5 days ago.

Last Friday she was diagnosed with Meningitis and is now at Montefiore Hospital.

Please send prayers of healing to Camiera.  Please send guidance to the doctors treating Camiera so that they can apply the right procedures for her.  Her mother, Latonya Green works with me and she and her family needs our prayers of strength and courage at this difficult time.

Thank you.

Su

Please send Strong Healing Prayers for this little one, that she gets the Best Help from her doctors, and makes a full recovery.  Thank you all.

s

And, from Eric G.:

I'm down in MD with family.  Not sure what the outcome will be with my mother.  She's in an ICU at a local hospital.   The preliminary diagnosis is a stroke, though tests are still being evaluated.   I would appreciate you posting this on prayer call:

Please send prayers to Eric's mother Helen G., who has had a stroke and is in a hospital in Tacoma Park, Maryland.

Eric

Please send Strong Prayers to wrap Eric's mother Helen, in a Blue Blanket of Healing, that she comes through this stroke as quickly as possible, and with the minimum of permanent damage.  Thank you so much!

In an email from Maggie, she asks we post a link to Travis' annual swim.  The web page is www.swimacrossamerica.org/TravisPeace

Thanks,

Maggie

And from Travis himself:

Dear Friends,

Next Saturday is my one mile swim!  I can hardly believe how fast the summer has gone.  I've been swimming every day, and did a one mile ocean swim a few weeks ago in preparation for this event.  I feel great and really prepared, and I'm looking forward to a strong swim.

Many of you have already made a generous donation, but there is still plenty of time to add your support if you are able.  Whether you make a donation or not, I hope you will add a note of encouragement to my web page ... it means a lot to me.  Again, my thanks for all of your best wishes.

Love,

Travis

On a note of "good news," we heard from Regine:  Thanks, I saw him (her father) last night and today, and he looks much better.  He's 96 and his mind is so sharp.  He said he's not had diarrhea today ... hopefully they have it under control.  Thanks for all the prayers.

xo,

Regine

s

On the Alex' health front, he has just finished three weeks of intense antibiotics to get rid of (once again) e-coli in his system.  The doctors cannot say for sure how it gets where it is, but they are doing everything they can to get rid of it.  It has been effecting his Kidneys, which is why they now diagnose him with continuing Kidney disease.

Please send Strong Prayers that they have finally gotten rid of this.  Last summer, they couldn't locate and eradicate his sepsis in the blood system, and the e-coli has come and gone at least 5 times in nearly three years.

Thank you all for your continuing Prayers of Healing.  I truly appreciate it.

July 17, 2010

Prayer Call received an Urgent Request for Prayers from Regine:

Please put up a prayer call for my father, who is 96 and was just taken to the hospital.  He has had 2 weeks of diarrhea and is now having pains in both his stomach and chest.  Please send strong prayers.  Thanks,

Regine

Please, send the Strongest of Healing Prayers to Regine's father, that he gets over this condition.  Also, send Strong Prayers to the Doctors, who will be taking care of her father and also, the Very strongest of Prayers to keep Regine calm through this situation, so that she is able to sit by her father's side and give of her own strength to help him recover.  We thank you all, and pray that your energy and Good Prayers be returned, many-fold.  May the Divine Spirit Bless You All.

Eliza received a call from her sister, Helene, in Florida.  A short while ago, she and her husband, Stephen, were in an auto accident.  Because he had to take pain medication, he slipped taking his "ammonia balancing medication," and was taken to the ER last night,  He should be out in a couple of days.

In the meantime, please send Strong Healing Prayers for Stephen, and Strong Calming Prayers for Helene, as well.

Thank you all for your Prayers for Stephen and Helene, and may all your good Energy be returned to you many-fold.  Bless you all.

Eliza and Alex got a phone call from Eliza's sister this evening.  While stopped at a stop light near their home, they got rear-ended by someone driving a white SUV; someone who didn't have the courtesy to stop and exchange insurance information.  They were victims of a hit-and-run.

Stephen was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, while Helene was able to drive there in their own vehicle.  Stephen suffered a crack in a vertebra, while Helene had bruises and injuries of an unknown combination.  Please, send Strong Healing Prayers for both Helene and Stephen, that they are wrapped in a blue blanket of healing, and that they recover quickly.  Also prayers that the police find the person who hit them.  Thank you all for your Prayers and good wishes, and may they be returned to you many-fold.

s

Meanwhile, in the Howard home, Alex' Kidney disease hit him hard in the middle of the week, and he has had a difficult time walking, or getting comfortable in any position, even with pain medicines.  Please send Alex Prayers of healing for his kidney problem, and thank you all for your prayers.

In an email from Su, we learned:  “I have known Jana Malkasian Wick for over 10 years.

She had a hip replacement that went well. 2 days later, she had a heart attack and then a triple bypass.

She needs lots and lots of healing prayers.  The hip replacement needs physical therapy, but she really can't move too much because of the bypass surgery. Please send her strength, strong healing on all levels, and above all patience.  She is an active woman and needs to understand the necessity of staying quiet to allow the healing to occur.

She would appreciate your prayers.

Thank you.

Please send Strong Healing Prayers to Jana and Prayers for Relaxation, that she remains patient with her healing.  Surround her in a Blue Blanket of Healing.  And may your Prayers be returned to you, Many-fold.  Thank you all.

We received a request from Su today:  “To all in the Prayer Call Circle,

My brother, Maury Swee is in the hospital with all sorts of Heart and high blood pressure Issues.  He's been diagnosed with congestive Heart Failure but so far the doctors have caught it in time so that he hasn't had to have that tube down his throat.  Today he had a stress test.  Half of the results are in and for the first half everything is "ok.”  He's awaiting the results of the second half of the test plus the results of other tests he took today.  When I spoke with him this afternoon, he was very tired so we had a brief conversation.

I ask that prayers of healing and strength be sent to Maury and that the doctors find a solution to control his blood pressure and the proper medications to give him for the rest of his ailments.

Your prayers would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you.

Su”

Please send Mary Strong Healing Prayers, surround him in a healing blanket of Blue Energy, so that he heals quickly, and his strength comes back stronger than before.  Send Strong Prayers of Love to Maury and to Su and their family, so that they can be there for Maury.  And Thank you All!

Esmeralda called us, to ask for prayers.  She is having problems with her Health Care Insurance Coverage company, Horizon Blue Cross / Blue Shield.  Apparently, they continue to classify her health situations as being Workman's Compensation cases.

Esmeralda has repeatedly told them that this is not a compensation case, and that she wants Horizon to pay for her health care, as they have been contracted to do; as they have been paid to do.

Please send Strong Prayers to Esmeralda, that she can get the coverage she needs from the company she has been paying for coverage, so that they actually do provide coverage for which they are being paid to provide.  Also, send Strong Prayers that Esmeralda fully recovers from her illnesses - those are being kept private on her wishes - and can return to full health and strength so that she can continue her life fully well and able to deal with whatever comes her way.  We thank you all for your prayers and kind wishes for Esmeralda, and we pray that your Positive Energy be returned to you many-fold.

In an update from John Suggs, we learned:

"Dear friends,

My mother died peacefully early this morning.  I was grateful that I arrived in Austin in time to spend some time with her yesterday evening.  I sang hymns and chants in Buddhist, Christian, and Hindu traditions softly in her ear, including the 1000 Names of the Divine Mother, and three of her favorite Christian hymns.  I performed my own rudimentary form of phowa for her.  I also spoke my paraphrase of the Tibetan Book of the Dead, and encouraged her to let go of any lingering fears and attachments in preparation for her consciousness moving on.  Apparently at age 90, after several years of being bed-ridden, she was ready to agree.

My sister and I drive to Houston early tomorrow to make arrangements for the funeral service at the church we attended as kids.  Although we would have liked it earlier, the service will be next Thursday.  I will return to New York that evening from Houston if I can find a flight.

Thanks again for all the good thoughts, prayers, and well wishes.  With your help, I know she is in a good Bardo.

John"

We were very grateful that the Spirit was able to get John to his mother's side before she went on ahead.  Your Prayers gave John and his family the timing to make it all happen in the best way possible.  Please continue sending John and his family Prayers of Strength and Healing.  And our Thanks to All.

We received a note from John Suggs, “Dear friends,

I fly to Texas tomorrow to be one last time with my mother who is expected to pass on within a week.  I will stay until her funeral which will be in the church we attended in Houston when I was growing up.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts, emails, phone calls, and prayers I have received.

Please send Strong Prayers to Jamie Suggs, that her transition is smooth and healing, and Strong Prayers to her family, especially John Suggs, that he is healed, as well, when his mother goes on ahead.

John has asked us for prayers for a smooth transition for his mother.  Also strong prayers for him and his sister and brother.

And now, a few words from our Kushi!

SCOTT BARNES

STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH...

Hi everybody---Scott "Marcel Marceau" Barnes here, reporting live for the first time in about three months. I thought I should get back to all of you who have been following this story through Brian's updates, or scattered phone calls or whatever. Let you know the "up to date" situation as close as I can tell it:

After having been in the Bahamas, Vegas, and Pittsburgh within a few weeks, on Valentine's Day 2010, I had Brian take me to Lenox Hill Hospital's ER, as I was having relentless pain across my solar plexus and sternum. Since our friend Frank Root had just been complaining of something similar and ended up in the hospital, we decided to seek help. At the ER, they thought it might be a coronary, so they "fast tracked" me, and in a short time I was having an angiogram, which showed that my heart was squeaky clean, as were my arteries and veins.  So I was sent home. Still in pain.

Now it starts to get fuzzy, but I'll do my best. We called my ENT Scott Kessler, who looked at me and saw that my cords were hugely inflamed, and that seemed to relate to the pain in my solar plexus and my left ear. I got a quickie endoscopy from Dr. Knapp, and the results showed no cancer, but major inflammation.  The pain kept getting worse, and I was not wanting to eat anything. I went to another GI guy, who gave me a Fentanyl drip in his office which for an hour relieved the horrific pain, and then I went over to Mt. Sinai, and was admitted. What seemed like scores of doctors, young and old poked me, asked me questions, and in general walked away confounded. What came out of this time was that I had some kind of lymphocytic meningitis, probably brought on by a weakened immunological system as a result of 2 years on methotrexate, a chemotherapy for my rheumatoid arthritis (which I may or may not have).  The inflammation was aggravated by the 2 years of Indocin (an old "pre-Advil," very harsh to the tummy, NSAID) for my hemicrania continua--a terrible "headache in my left eye" which I had been suffering for a couple of years.

After a week in the hospital, I was released (against my will), came home for 2 miserable (for Brian and me) days, and then readmitted for another month!  During this time, my left pupil shrunk to the size of a pin spot, my eyes crossed when I looked left, and my left vocal cord (actually "vocal fold") paralyzed, and my speech and swallowing were severely impaired. I had been aspirating much of what I swallowed (even though I was barely eating), and got pneumonia, as a result.

More doctors, more tests, more loving nurses, more flowers (thanks all!) and cards, more panic.  Pretty.  I was malnourished by what little they could get into my IV, so the decision was made to put a feeding tube in.  Couldn't do it endo- or radiocopically, so had to be done laparoscopically.

BUT

I was now pretty much itchin' to get back to my life.  I could feel that I wasn't going to die; I wanted to start to stretch my "muscles" in the new world of opera in which I had found myself--and as my 56th birthday approached, I wanted to get my proverbial ducks in a row---quiet little suckers at the moment--and start doing things again.

Easier written than done. NOT easier *said* than done, these days!

So, while we are waiting for my nervous system to repair itself (from the terrible trauma of the meningitis inflammation), I have trouble speaking and swallowing, because my left vocal fold is still paralyzed.  I have had NOTHING by mouth for 3 months, and get all my nutrition through a feeding tube in my abdomen, which goes directly into my jejunum (part of the small intestine).  My stomach is weirdly high (sort of up in my ribcage and shaped like a hockey stick), so the surgeons could not get a clear, safe, shot for the tube, except to put it in the jejunum.  Eighteen out of every twenty-four hours, I have a nutritious liquid (like Ensure, but in my case Peptamen 1.5 [thank God, it's manufactured by NESTLÉ'S!!!]) slowly pumped into me.  The pump is small and portable (and comes with its own tiny but perfectly formed backpack), so I can take it with me when I need to.

A bit of good news: the agonizing headaches in the left eye have been gone for about six weeks. Good riddance!

For a long time, I was so traumatized that I didn't really miss eating.  But now, although I'm never really "hungry", I would really like to sink my teeth into a big juicy bacon cheeseburger, well-done fries, and a piece of my own moist delicious carrot cake. For starters.

I have started s-l-o-w-l-y back to work: I did a couple of sessions with Marianne Challis for her Feinstein's debut (big success), Reagan Stone, Lisa Viggiano, Sharon Ruben, Risa Finkel, put Ruth Carlin in the Duplex, and am back in the recording studio finishing up Ruth's CD.  Starting back with my classical singers, as well. Doing a demo for Shirley Ritenour at Frank Fagnano's this week.

I had my first speech and swallow therapy (an insurance snafu caused it to be delayed) this Monday.  The therapist is a real "balls to the wall" kinda gal--Merman woulda played her in the movies.  She gave me a couple of things to do this month, while I'm waiting to see the big ENT surgeon Peak Woo, who will do an EMG on me June 10 to see what kind of nerve activity is happening in the affected areas.  At that time, he will determine that things are moving slowly by themselves, or that there are other procedures we can do to help me to swallow and/or speak better with the strong right side. At present, my big trick seems to be that I can arrest my Adam's apple in the "up" position of a big swallow, and hold it there until I run out of breath.   Evidently, all that laryngeal manipulation with Elizabeth Howell in  1976-79 has come back to serve me, as the experts all think my skill is incredible!

Hard at work on a couple of OPERA NEWS features, and that's it for the moment...

Thanks to all of you who have so generously sent prayers/thoughts/phone messages/DVDs/cards/flowers/cuddly things my way---every bit helps.  Thanks for help with insurance  payments (Oy, those anesthesiologists!) and for taking me on slow  walks around the neighborhood or through the tulip garden next door.

You must realize that for a talker this has been a hellish situation.  Since childhood, the one thing that never left me was my big tireless voice.  My mind works incredibly quickly and those thoughts would shoot out of my mouth at breakneck speed, and louder than anyone else's!  So this time has been very scary and strange for me, and your words of encouragement or unqualified love have really helped.

Also, thank you for caring for Brian, who has had to shoulder so much additional pressure--like his life wasn't already overbooked!  We are doing great after a few challenging bumps in the road.  I cherish his partnership more than I can convey.

Tonight, we're going to try a movie out (5pm show) and joining a friend for dinner ---dinner for them, nothing for me, thanks!  It's our first real date since the hospital...

So, we wait, keep our spirits up, and try to swallow...

Love to all

SCOTTY

(Kushi!)

Please, send Strong Prayers to Scotty, that he continues to heal and get his voice back.  And send strength to Brian, a caregiver beyond compare, that he continues to have the strength to help Kushy.  Thank you all, so much!

An old friend, from back in Alex' Hippie Musician days, sent Alex a clipping from a newspaper in California.  Unfortunately, it contained very bad news:

PALA ---- The California Highway Patrol is looking for witnesses to a Sunday crash that left a Wildomar motorcyclist in critical condition.

About 1:25 p.m., Martin Davidoff, 60, was riding a 2002 Yamaha motorcycle east on Highway 76 approaching Magee Road at an unknown speed, CHP Officer Eric Newbury said.

Davidoff crashed into the back of a Chevy Colorado pickup that was waiting to make a left turn onto Magee, the CHP said.

The motorcycle's gas tank ruptured and fire engulfed the bike and the rider, who was pulled away from the wreckage by arriving help, Newbury said.

A Pala tribal security officer extinguished the flames with a fire extinguisher, but Davidoff suffered major trauma and third-degree burns over most of his body, Newbury said.

He was flown to UCSD Medical Center's burn unit, where he was listed in critical condition Monday, officials said.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected in the crash; it is not clear what happened, Newbury said.

The CHP is asking any witnesses to call the Oceanside office at 760-757-1675.

This accident took place, and/or was reported on May 3, 2010.

Unfortunately, a follow-up article Alex received advised readers that Marty Davidoff - who played bass in the Observation Balloon - had passed; had gone on ahead.  Marty was a sweet person, always there with a smile, a comforting word, if necessary, and a shoulder on which to lean.  Indeed, Marty was one of the best singers and bass players Alex had ever had the honor of making music with.  Please send Strong Prayers to help Guide Marty into the next plane, and to comfort his family due to his passing.  Not much is known about his family at this time.  The person who sent Alex this information was able to reach Alex through his Hash Howard web site.  As used to be said back then, Marty was "Good People!"  More than that, Marty was the best!  He will be missed by all who knew him, no matter how long or short that association was.  Marty made that kind of impression on people, and anyone who met and knew Marty was better for having done so.  May his travels go forward in peace and comfort.

We received an email from Joaniko:  "Hi, Laura continues to live on her own, with a helper who comes in six days a week for a few hours.  Her short-term memory has declined markedly in the past month or so - since I was there in March - but she perks up a lot when I and others call.

Thank you for posting her birthday (she was 89)!

Best to all-

JK"

Please, send Strong Prayers to Laura, that her memory stops its decline, and that she has the strength to help her caregiver and help herself.  Thank you all, very much!

On Wednesday, Eliza had a shot of cortisone in the main joint of her right thumb.  She has had this done before, back in November of last year, to relieve a problem from a lack of connective tissue - which is now "bone on bone," instead of having that connective tissue as a cushion.

While everything went well, the pain is lasting longer than it did the first time.  And so, we ask that you send Strong Prayers to Eliza, so that the pain is relieved quickly, and that the healing moves along quickly, too.

And we Thank You All, for giving of your energy, and your strength, and we Pray that your Divine Energy be returned to you, many-fold.

We are so pleased to receive an email from Su Nissan.  In it, she writes, "Thank you all for your prayers for Mr. Ginger Cookie and Su.  We're healing nicely.

HOWEVER, my friend and colleague, Artemis Lage was admitted to NYU Medical Center because she couldn't breath.  She's been there since last Tuesday and the doctors still haven't found out what the problem is.  I spoke with her today and she can barely speak in a whisper.  The only thing they do know is that the lining of her lungs are inflamed.  She's had knee surgery last November.  She caught Pneumonia in the hospital and since then has had this really bad cough and trouble breathing and speaking.

Please send strong healing prayers to her and to the doctors that are treating her.  May they find the cause of her illness and take the proper steps to begin the process of treatment so that she can heal.

Thank you.

Su"

Please continue sending Strong Prayers of Healing for Su and Mister Ginger Cookie, but also add Strong Healing Prayers for Su's friend, Artemis Lage, so that the Doctors at NYU Medical Center can diagnose and treat her as quickly as is humanly possible, and get her back up and going soonest.  Thank you all for your Generosity and Prayers.

It is down to the wire now.  Even though Eliza and Alex have been working with one of the legitimate law firms, who are empowered to work with their mortgage company, to try and work out the Obama Making Home Affordable Mortgage Program, they cannot pull money from where there is none.

Eliza and Alex have been living on very little, trying to put money away, so that they can make the first new payment as per the PNC Mortgage Plan.

Instead of requiring Eliza and Alex to come up with a  balloon payment of more than $15,000, they now only want $2,000 on May 1, and again on the first of each month until August.

If Eliza and Alex can make those payments, the bank will consider dropping those monthly payments lower still.  The problem is finding even $2,000 for the first payment.

Please, send Strong Prayers to Eliza and Alex that  they can come up with the money to keep their home, so they can keep shelter for their cats and bird, and themselves.

The good news:  Su Nissan has returned home from Palisades Medical Center.  She has a bunch of new medications to take, all of which are designed to keep her heart under control, and keep her healthy.

Equally good news:  Mister Ginger Cookie, Su's 15 year old kitty, is also feeling better.

[Kitty years is not like dog years.  A cat's first year is the equivalent of 20 human years, and each successive year is the equivalent of four human years.  So, Mister Ginger Cookie, at 15 years, is really 76!

So, we ask for Strong Prayers of Healing and Strength for both Su Nissan and Mister Ginger Cookie.  Together, they will be healing each other, and using your Prayers to recuperate.  Please, wrap them Both in a Blue Blanket of Healing, so that they will both be up and about soonest!

Thank you all, so very much, for your Divine Praying for recuperation and prayers of Health.

April 27, 2010

Eirene requested:  "Could you send out a prayer Call for Su Nissan.

She just called me at approx 1:30PM that she is in Palisades Emergency Room.  She went there this morning, saw Dr. Restogi and is waiting to see heart specialist Dr. Gableman.

Dr. Restogi admitted her and late this afternoon or early this evening will be sent up to the 3rd. floor.  Su has Atrial Fibrillation of the Heart & very high blood pressure.  She is very upset and is asking for Prayers.  So please send out Very Strong Prayers for Su.

Thanks Eirene

Please send Strong Prayers of Healing for Su so that she gets out of Palisade Medical Center in good health as quickly as is possible, and many Thanks to you All, for your Prayers.  And, please see below, for news about Su's little friend, Mister Ginger Cookie, who also needs strong prayers sent his way from all of us as well.

And a request from Su herself:  " Mr. Ginger cookie isn't eating and with everything else going on in my life, my health has been affected too!! [only I'm eating and don't need to see the Vet every day].  Mr. Ginger Cookie needs prayers of healing and I need prayers of healing: my blood pressure and heart rate are a tat too high for my doctor's or my liking. I'm doing everything I can for myself and for Ginger Cookie.

Thanks,

Su"

Please, send Strong Prayers for Mister Ginger Cookie and for Su herself.  Ginger cookie will be recovering at home, while Su will be treated in Palisade Medical Center until further notice.  Thank you all for your Prayers of Healing and Strength.

Forgive me for any misspellings or other mistakes, as it is now 4:19 AM on Thursday morning, and my eyes simply refuse to focus no matter how much I beg them to do so.  I am trying very hard to get this done right, but am having the fight of my life with my computer, which refuses to cooperate with me.

April 25, 2010

Thru Thai, we received an email update on Kushi, sent by Brian:  Hi everyone, I wanted to let you all know that Scott is recovering nicely at home.

He tires easily and is still on the feeding tube--and will be until his swallowing comes back.  (This could be one, two, or even three months--we hope no more than that.  Just no way of telling right now.)

His voice is still very raspy, so he isn't talking on the phone much.

But his spirits are much, much better--lots of signs of his old personality returning.  He was able to rehearse a few times for Marianne Challis's act at Feinstein's (which, for those of you who weren't there, turned out to be a triumph--possibly her best show ever.)  And he rehearsed for two hours on Thursday with Ruth Carlin.  So he's coming back slowly.  He's very eager to be back in the groove, working and actually eating a real meal instead of nutrient-in-a-can-and-through-a-tube.

So--miles to go, but we're doing much, much better.  I'm back at work on the book, and life is returning to what passes for normal.

I doubt that I send another of these email blasts, so just assume no news = good news.  Thanks again for your help, everybody.

Love,

Brian”

Please send Strong Prayers for continued healing and for Strength to Kushi, and to Brian, as they both are going through an incredible ordeal.  But we are grateful for the Good News that Brian has sent us.  We Pray that your Divine Energy be returned to you, many-fold.

And on the Alex front:  Alex woke up Friday am without the ability to walk, unless he braced himself on furniture.  The good news is that last week, Alex got refills of his pain medicine.  The bad news is that the meds are hardly touching this pain.  It is reminiscent of the Monday he was taken to St. Mary Hospital in Passaic, to meet his Pain Management Doctor, but left at 4 PM since the doctor forgot to meet him there.

Please send Strong Prayers to Alex that his pain abates as quickly as possible, and send Prayers of Strength to Eliza, for having to deal with Alex’ problems for so long.  Eliza is certainly earning her Martyr’s Merit Badge.  And our thanks to all, for the Prayers you send on Alex’ behalf.  Again, may the Divine Spirit return your Prayers and good energy, many-fold.

April 18, 2010

At 2 AM, this morning, Eliza was taken to the ER at Palisades Medical Center.  It seems that while working in their attic, she managed to get a rather large splinter under one of her (tiny) fingernails.  Given that the house is more than 120 years old, a splinter from the attic floor is not a good thing to have in you.

Eliza managed to remove most of the splinter Friday night, but by last evening (Saturday), her finger was red, throbbing, and hot.

By 1 AM, Eliza and Alex had waited long enough, and they decided it was time to have a professional take a look.

The on-call doctor did, indeed, look at the finger.  Since Eliza had cut back her fingernail, he was able to get a good look at the site, and advised that Eliza had, indeed, removed all of the splinter.  However, there was what he called "granulation" in the spot, or channel, left by the removal of the splinter.  The doctor, without benefit of pain remedies to himself or Eliza, then opened this area up and cleaned it out.  He put an antibiotic ointment in that spot, and had it bandaged by a Physician's Assistant, and Eliza was sent home.

And YES, it is THAT Finger on her Left Hand.  So with the bandages, she must be careful to whom she waves ... for a few days, anyway.  The danger is no longer in infection, but in insult.

Red Tulips

Please send Strong Prayers to Eliza, to help heal the offending finger, and to keep her as pain-free as possible.  We thank you all, and we Pray that your Blessings be returned to you, many-fold.

We received an email from Thai to post the following Request for Prayers:

Hi Thai -- can this be posted on the prayer call site:

Prayers are requested for Eric's brother, Alan Goldsborough, who will undergo ankle replacement surgery at Duke Medical Center on Thursday, April 15th.

Thanks,

Eric

Please send Strong Prayers for Healing to Eric's brother, Alan, and Prayers to guide the surgeons' hands to help in the replacement surgery.  And Thank You to All who send prayers, with our hopes that they be returned many-fold.  Blessings to all from the Divine Spirit!

April 10, 2010

Tonight, we ask that Strong Prayers be sent to the people of Poland, and to Poles everywhere, to help them deal with the loss of so many of their leaders.  They all left this plane today in an airliner accident in Russia.

We do not know what else to ask, but that you send Prayers of Healing for all – those who left, and those they left behind.

May the Divine Spirit Heal and Guide, Guard, and Protect All.  Thank you.

April 3, 2010

We have an update on Kushi:

Hi everyone,

Scott came home from Mt. Sinai this afternoon (April 2, 2010) at 5:00.  He's quite thin, and he's weak and tired, but doing all right.  I'm awfully glad that he's home.  Daisy was beside herself when he walked in the door, and now he's propped up in bed, resting, hooked up to his feeding tube and watching Turner Classic Movies.

I spent much of yesterday having the apartment cleaned from top to bottom by an AMAZING woman - Erica, a friend of Lauren Flannigan's.  I wanted to be sure the atmosphere was as bacteria-free as possible for his homecoming and the set-up of the feeding tube apparatus.  I told Erica that she did more to restore my sanity than anything or anyone had in weeks.  She just came in and took charge with her spray bottle of Clorox, and the place looks tremendous.

Scott will be on the feeding tube until he's able to swallow again. I'm going to try to keep him pretty quiet.  For now, email continues to be the best means of communication.

As I said before and will say again - I'm glad he's home.

xoxo

Brian

We are so very Glad that Kushi is home again, and making strides toward full recovery.  The importance of being home, and having your family - including Daisy - around you cannot be minimized.  Just being there makes such an incredible difference in your ability to heal, that you begin to heal at an entirely different rate of speed.

Please continue to send the Strongest Prayers for Healing to both Kushi and Brian, so that they know we are holding them in a Big Blue Blanket of Healing and Strength.  With your help, Kushi will indeed return to normal soon, and then this episode will be only a memory.  Thank you all for your Strength and for your Prayers to get Kushi back on his feet and home again, healing in the most Positive way possible.  Bless you all for the strength and energy you have been sending to them both.

We have an update on Alex' condition:

Alex awoke this morning, nearly unable to walk.  The pains he is experiencing seem to be from the damaged disks, but could also be from his Kidney disease.  He explains that the feeling is as if everything from his waist down is on fire, and there is tremendous weakness in his lower extremities.

Alex refuses to go to an Emergency Room; he thinks he has had enough of being in hospitals lately, and wishes to see if these pains will go away on their own, with your Prayers for help.

Please send Strong Prayers to Alex, so that he is able to heal quickly, and that his pain goes away equally quickly.  Thank you all for your Generosity in sending Alex Prayers of Strength, and sending Eliza prayers of Strength as well, so that she can cope with this situation, too.  Bless you all for your Kindness.

March 25, 2010

We have an update on Kushi:

"Hi everyone,

Good news:  the latest spinal tap shows that the meningitis is on the way out.  Scott has progressed from 77 white cells in a single drop of spinal fluid (VERY abby normal) to 13.  His glucose count is also much stronger.  So that, at last, is moving in the right direction.

Dr. Gumprecht, the infectious disease specialist, seems pleased with Scott's progress.

Scott had a feeding tube put in yesterday (in his stomach).  It was a little more complicated than expected, because Scott's stomach is positioned very high, but it's done.  A nurse is showing us how to cope with the feeding tube at home; Dr. Gumprecht assures us that it's not difficult to maintain.  He will have it as long as his swallowing continues to be compromised.  He also had a line put into his jugular vein, so he's no longer being fed by IV, thus giving his hands and arms a chance to heal and also reducing risk of infection by a lot.

He's in pretty good spirits.  I think--hope--he may be home by early next week, though we don't want to rush anything.

I'm going to be quite busy through the weekend.  I do have many things of my own to do, so don't be surprised if I don't answer you promptly - or at all.

Brian"

This is wonderful news, showing that Kushi is finally showing some real improvement.  We need to continue sending Strong Prayers of Healing - wrap Kushi in a Blue Blanket of Healing - and Strong Prayers of comfort both to Kushi and to Brian.  And our Thanks to you for sending your Divine Prayers of Healing and Comfort to Brian and Kushi!

March 23, 2010

We received a request from Su:  "Hello all,

My friend Steve Boyd's daughter, Marissa, passed over suddenly late last night or early this morning.  She was 28 years young.

I ask that prayers of healing and strength be sent to Steve.  For Marissa, I ask that we send prayers for a safe, peaceful, protected and healing journey.

Thank you for your prayers.

Su"

Please, send Strong Prayers of Healing for Marissa, as she makes her way through the Bardos, after her sudden departure.  And Strong Prayers of Calm and Healing to her family, as they deal with Marissa's departure from this to the next plain.

We do apologize, as we were not sure on which day this came in.

March 20, 2010

Thai received an update on Kushi today:  "Hi everyone,

The results of Scott's second Gallium scan came back this afternoon:  no sign of significant inflammation elsewhere in the body.  This means that early next week, they are going to go ahead and proceed (at last) with putting in a feeding tube.  By then, it will have been a total of three weeks since he's had any food by mouth, and he's malnourished; he also runs the risk of infection via continued use of I.V. feeding.

(His hands and arms look awful--bruised).  So the tube should be put in Monday or Tuesday.  They will see how he does with it, and the goal - it seems a fairly realistic one - is to release him by next Friday or Saturday.

For now, they are not going to worry about repairing his 2001 surgery for nissen fundoplication, which is becoming undone.  It's a complication that the wonderful infectious diseases specialist, Dr. Gumprecht, doesn't feel they need to add into the mix right now.

So:  pneumonia and cough much better.  Voice raspy, but stronger.  Still can't swallow any significant amount of liquid with any ease at all, but the infection of the esophagus is clearing up slowly.  He's lost a tremendous amount weight and looks terrific.

As for the meningitis, another spinal tap and MRI are going to be performed next week.  It's possible that they will release him "uncured" for the meningitis, but there's no real danger, as it's kind of a chronic, not a rapidly moving, thing.  They'll do follow up and keep monitoring him.  But if the spinal tap shows a major decrease in the number of white cells in his spinal fluid - then we will know that the meningitis, too, is on its way out.

But keep those good thoughts coming.  We'll take them.

I'm spending this evening eating homemade chili and watching that spectacular Peckinpah Western RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY and what must be the worst Mae West movie ever made, THE HEAT'S ON.  Just in case you were wondering how I fill my late hours post-Sinai. . .

Daisy and I miss Scott desperately; Betty is holding up well, as long as she knows where her next can of Fancy Feast is coming from.

xoxoxo

Brian

Dear Friends and Family ... we need to continue sending Strong Healing Prayers to Kushi and to Brian.  Wrap them both in a Healing Blanket of Blue, and send Strong Healing Prayers their way.  Also, send Strong Prayers of Calm and Relaxation to them, so that they can deal with this situation easily.  Having been there, the most important thing for Kushi and Brian is to know that we are all there for them.  Although we may not call them often, we must be there truly In Spirit, for their strength depends upon our Strength, to get them through this situation, so that they can indeed come out the other side strong and well, and not have to watch any more grade "C" Mae West Movies!  And Our Love To You All!

March 16, 2010

Thai sent us another Kushi update:  "Hi there,

Nothing much to report. I spoke with the infectious disease specialist. We both like him a great deal.  He told me that he's been working on the case every day, but he is somewhat baffled by the pathology, and doesn't want to strike with treatment until he's absolutely sure what he's dealing with; to that end, they are going to administer something called a Gallium scan to check for inflammation in other parts of the body.  Because the white cell count in the spinal fluid was quite high, they want to see if they can detect inflammation anywhere else, which should give them a clearer sense of direction.

But all the blood work has been negative--everything from Lyme Disease to syphilis.  The matter of the feeding tube is still troubling, and to that end, I'm going to consult with a patient advocate at Sinai when I go there tomorrow.  Otherwise, some pretty good news: pneumonia receding by the day, and he can talk with increasing strength. Swallowing still a problem, though.

I was horrified to see that in my fatigue and haste I had indicated by omission in last night's email that I was leaving for the week! Not at all.  I'm going up to Yale on Thursday night to see my friend's play and will be back Friday afternoon.

I'm doing fine.  But being here at home without Scott isn't fun.  I miss him terribly, and I'm talking to the cat and the dog a liiiiiiiitttle too much.

xoxoxo

Brian"

Please, continue sending Strong Healing Prayers to both Kushi and Brian, so that Kushi can get well and get out of hospital, and so that Brian can get back to living a normal life.  And Bless You All, for your Amazing Strength.

March 14, 2010

We received an update on Kushi:  "Hi everyone,

For the first time in three weeks--a really encouraging day.

I went to Mt. Sinai this afternoon, and I could tell when I walked in that he was much improved.  He looked better, acted more like his old self.  The voice still is gravelly, but that too is much better; he was talking much more animatedly and the coughing is better.  (The pneumonia is on the way out.) He's doing some swallowing exercises that they've given him, which seem to be helping his throat along.

They couldn't put the feeding tube in as planned today, because his stomach seems to be positioned too high, so they're going to try to do it Friday or Monday in what will be a rather involved surgery under a general anesthetic.  He's had nothing but his nutritional IV drip for going on two weeks, and his arms, where they have repeatedly stuck him, look like war zones.

He was in much better spirits today.  We had a really wonderful talk for the first time in weeks, and it was great to feel him coming back to me.

He'll be at Sinai for several more days, I'm sure.  The doctors still haven't worked out the proper treatment for the meningitis; they want to be sure

they get it right, so they're taking their time. But he will make a full recovery; it will just be slow.

So - I'm going to bed with a lighter heart than I've had for weeks now.

He loves getting your cards and emails and flowers.  Thank you all so much. You've all helped me to feel much less isolated during this tough time.

xoxoxo

Brian"

Thank you all for your incredible Strength and Prayers,  for your Wonderful Help, sent to both Brian and to Kushi.

You are helping to bring him a better state of health, and we thank you all for everything you do!

March 12, 2010

Just a brief note:  Alex was told to go to the ER yesterday by his doctor, due to excruciating pains in his right kidney.  These pains started about 9:30AM Thursday, and lasted until very early today.

He was admitted to Palisade Medical Center and spent the night there.  They were going to perform a procedure to implant a stent in his right kidney or urethra.  As of the time they took him to the operating room, today, when he consulted with the doctor, it was decided to allow him to go home, rather than have the procedure, since the pain had gone away completely.

Alex is home now, and resting comfortably.

Please send Prayers of Healing to Alex, and Prayers of Strength to Eliza, who had to put up with another episode of Alex' strange health situation.  Thank you all, very much.

March 9, 2010

Thai received an update on Kushi, from Brian:  Hello everyone,

As of today, Scott has been at Mt. Sinai for a total of two weeks and four days.  He had the spinal tap done this morning at the hospital, and the results came in when I went up there this evening after work:  he has lymphocytic meningitis, with accompanying cranial nerve abnormalities.  We don't yet know how contained it is, or exactly how the doctors are going to treat it - that depends on study of the pathology reports over the next day or two.

He is in excellent hands and seems in quite stable condition.

I am not going to insult all of you by telling you "Don't worry."  I know that all of you ARE worried.  But I would ask that you not leap on to Wikipedia and get yourselves more excited than need be.  The most important thing right now is to take everything as calmly as possible.  That way we'll all help each other.  Again, it's best to communicate with me via email.  I do love hearing from you that way; in the interest of conserving my energy, it's just not possible to speak with everyone by phone.  He's in excellent hands, and I'm sure that this is going to be contained and that he'll make a very good recovery.  But it's a very rare and complex illness, and it will just take time.

It's quite possible, according to the terrific infectious disease specialist at Sinai, that the headache pain Scott has been suffering from for the past couple of years is all part of some weird pattern.  The doctors have called the case "bizarre" and "mysterious," and several of them say they can't wait to write about it!

First, of course, we have to get Scott well.

Other news: this afternoon, they put Scott out and injected his paralyzed vocal cord with something that's supposed to move it toward the cord that isn't paralyzed, and put him back on the road to normal speech.  We'll see how that goes.  He's on vocal rest for the next twenty four hours.  Yes, you heard me.  Vocal rest.

Do I picture my brother Barry falling off the couch in Oregon and rolling on the floor laughing?

They're going to put a feeding tube in Scott, perhaps tomorrow.  They tried to do it today, but after giving it a shot, they are going to take him into the operating room and do it under a general anesthetic.

Much love and thanks to you all,

Brian”

As you can see, we need to crank up the Prayer Wheels, and give it more.  Please send Great Strength and Healing Prayers to Scott and to Brian, too.  Being a caregiver can take an incredible amount out of a person, and Brian needs our Strength and Healing Prayers, too.  As always, thank you All, for everything you do.  May your Divine Strength and Prayers be returned to you, many-fold.  Bless you all, for your help.

Also, received from Joan Doljan today:

Bali, is the sweetest, gentlest kitten. He likes nothing more than to snuggle on your neck and purr like a motorboat.  Unfortunately, he is FELV+ and must live in a cage until a home can be found for him.  He would like nothing more than to have someone to play with and freedom to run and enjoy his life as a kitten.  Unfortunately, his foster home has other cats, so he sits in his cage, with an extended paw, touching anyone who passes by.

Bali may live a normal life or be stricken by the FELV+ virus within a few years.  Just like every life, there are many unknowns.

If you have no other cats, or a FELV+ cat who wants a friend, please ask about Bali.  He is in NJ, near New York City.  He is neutered and vaccinated.  He tested positive on the ELISA and IFA tests.

Please email: jdoljan@yahoo.com .

We pray that a home can be found for Bali.

We received another update on Kushi:  “Hi everyone,

Scott still at Sinai, and will be for a while longer.

The good news is that all the blood test results came back fine.  Now they're trying to figure out what to do about the viral infection of the esophagus (it's also showed up in the stomach).  Tomorrow they may well do a spinal tap (and I hope they do), as a couple of the doctors on the case suspect fungal meningitis.  If they don't do it tomorrow, I know it won't get done on the weekend, so I'm pressing for Friday.

All in all, Scott seemed better tonight.  He looked better and wasn't coughing quite as much, though the pneumonia is quite persistent.

Tomorrow, I think they're going to take him off his nutritional IV and put in a feeding tube, as they fear that the IV might cause an infection.  (And he has enough of that.)

He seemed in better spirits this evening.  But the hospital is where he belongs for now.

Thanks again for all your good wishes.  Last night was a rough one for me, but I'm feeling much, much better about everything tonight and am planning to sleep until about noon, with our precious dog and cat on either side of me.  Special thanks to Clifford for spending time with the animals today and for picking up our laundry, to Judy Rice for listening to me rattle on last night, to Lauren Flannigan for making a spectacular entrance at the Sinai Guggenheim Pavilion and being the great friend that she always has been, to Erik Dahl for helping me keep what passes for my sanity every day of my life, and to Thai Jason for taking me to dinner at a swell Hungarian restaurant.  A little schnitzel can accomplish miracles.

Much love and pleasant dreams,

Brian”

March 8, 2010

First, Thai heard from Dalita yesterday and she asked to put something on Prayer Call for her:

Dalita is currently in Texas trying to figure out how best to help her mother who is currently hospitalized and not doing very well.  Her sister in Denver seems to be too sick to join her and her brother, who lives in Texas, has a broken leg.  So it seems that at this time Dalita, who is herself dealing with a compromised health situation, is trying to straighten out her Mother's medical situation.

Prayers of healing, good strength and clear and loving thoughts and feelings to all of the Rubinsteins ... no exceptions!!!

Next, a Kushi update from Brian, which got to Thai last evening:  “For some reason my first email aborted, so here goes another try.

Scott has a big day tomorrow: a spinal tap in the morning to determine whether or not he has fungal meningitis, followed by the insertion of a feeding tube and a procedure to try to help improve his difficulty in swallowing and paralyzed vocal cord.  The spinal tap has been a week in the making, and I don't know why:  there was considerable disagreement about whether or not to proceed, but the infectious disease specialist at the hospital finally prevailed.

He'll be at Sinai for a while longer.  The doctor who came in this evening said it was one of the most bizarre cases he'd ever seen.  He's lost a great deal of weight and today was in pretty low spirits.  Still doesn't want too many visitors - really just three or four of his nearest and dearest.

I'll let you know if that changes.  Anyway, we're getting there.

The recovery period will be long and slow, but we're getting there.

So tonight, Betty, Daisy and I are skipping the Oscars to watch ZERO HOUR! on TCM.  AIRPLANE! without the (intentional) laughs.

Night-night,

Brian”

Please, keep sending Strong Healing Prayers to Kushi, so that he continues to be protected and to get better, and Prayers of Strength to Brian, too.  Thank you all, so very much.

March 4, 2010

We received an update on Kushi, from Brian:  "Hi everyone,

An update after a couple of days:  some of Scott's symptoms have improved.  The eyes seem okay, and the vocal cord has improved SLIGHTLY, though I have a feeling it's going to be a long road on that one.  He's still coughing terribly, because the pneumonia has worsened, and today they decided to put him on an all nutritional-IV diet--no solid foods, in fact nothing at all by mouth because he's in grave danger of aspirating.  He's lost quite a bit of weight, though his color is pretty good and tonight his blood pressure had come down a fair amount.

A second endoscopy today revealed a fungal infection of the esophagus - not just an ordinary inflammation.  They're planning to give him a spinal tap tomorrow to determine whether or not he may have fungal meningitis - this was the suggestion of his very good neurologist.  He's been through a number of tests and we hope to have the results back within the next couple of days.

That's all for now.  As I said before, best to contact me by email.  I'm pretty exhausted, and it's just too draining to return most phone calls.

My best,

Brian"

Please everyone, continue sending Strong Healing Prayers to Kushi, and to Brian, and Prayers of Strength to them both.  We still need to surround Kushi with a Blue Blanket of Healing, to help him get through this.  With your help, he will.  Bless you all for your Strength and Energy and for sharing it with Kushi.

February 27, 2010

This is today's Kushi update:

"Hi everybody --

A setback, I'm afraid:  Scott was discharged from Sinai on Wednesday.  I had him at home for two days, then had to have him readmitted Friday afternoon.  (I had feared as much when I brought him home on Wednesday.)

He started to slide downhill right away, had trouble eating; basically he had a few spoonfuls of oatmeal and a couple of glasses of Gatorade in two days.

So he's back at Sinai, being rehydrated, and I want them to keep him this time until he's really ready to come home.

The infection and the paralyzed vocal cord still make swallowing very difficult.  No idea when he'll be out -- but I really hope it's not for a while.  He has a nice, private room and the nursing staff is terrific.

I probably won't write for a few days unless something changes dramatically -- so don't worry if you don't hear from me.

Many thanks again for all the help and support -- after two weeks, I'm starting to take people up on their offers!

xoxoxo

Brian"

Please, send the Strongest Prayers for Healing to Kushi, and for Comfort to Brian, and let us all Pray that Kushi recovers quickly and completely.  Thank you all for your Positive Strength and Support.

This was a Kushi update from Thursday, which got missed due to this editor's own spinal procedure.  We post it now for all, as an update on how Kushi is doing, to see where he was and that he is indeed getting better, incrementally:

Hi--

Today we went to two doctors--ENT and neurologist.  Scott is still quite sick, and, unfortunately, unable to speak much at all.  The cough is also bad, but the good news it that the inflammation is easing up slowly and he's moving in the right direction.  The eye is much improved, though he still has double vision when he looks too far to the right.  The voice (it makes William Hickey in PRIZZI'S HONOR sound like Ethel Merman) is the result of a paralyzed vocal cord (the left one), which is most likely a result of both the pneumonia and the nerves around the eye being affected.  It will just take time -- a lot of it, I'm afraid.

But there's no need for anyone to worry; they think he's going to be just fine as the weeks go by.  The stuff he was taking for his hemicrania continua and rheumatoid arthritis weakened the immune system, so it's gone for good -- the meds, I mean.

I was able to get a bowl of oatmeal down him tonight, but eating is quite difficult -- he chokes quite easily.  But I've got a whole supply of stuff laid in that should be relatively easy to get down -- yogurt, egg salad, ice cream, etc.

So I think things are going to be okay.  But I would doubt that he would be able to speak by phone much until next week.

xoxoxo

Brian"

February 26, 2010

We received this "Kushi update" late last evening:

"Hi Thai,
I think I accidentally left you off the mass email last night--apologies for that.

I picked him up at Mount Sinai yesterday around noon and brought him home.  He's still very sick.  I can't stress enough to everyone that this is going to be a VERY long recovery process.  He can't speak at all.  The left vocal cord is paralyzed, as a result (they think) of something called Horner's syndrome, which also contributed to the eye problem.  The eye, thankfully, is much better, though he still has some double vision when he looks left (a symptom of Horner's, apparently).

His cough is dreadful, and it's hard for him to eat.  I just got a bowl of oatmeal down him, but I thought I was going to have to do the Heimlich in the middle of it.  He has got to eat, so I have broth from last night's pot roast, homemade egg salad, ice cream, yogurt, etc. - apparently thick liquid is better than thin because it's less easy to aspirate while taking it in.

Everyone has been so wonderful to check in and ask if they can do anything.  I was wondering if I might actually take you up on it.  I don't know yet - but I THINK that after the last two weeks, I might like to have a quick evening out on Saturday.  If I needed you to - and perhaps it wouldn't be necessary - would you be able to come and sit with him for four hours or so?  Don't change plans or anything - just be honest.

Many thanks and much love,

Brian, The Blonde, and the animals"

As before, please send Kushi and all of his family and friends the Strongest Prayers for Healing and Comfort.  Send Special Prayers for Strength to Brian, so that he can manage all he is doing to help Kushi.  Our Thanks to you all, and our Prayers for your strength too, so that you do not lose your own energy and strength, sending the Prayers needed to bring Kushi to a Healthy State quickly.

Please, contact Thai if you wish to "Kushi-sit" so that Brian can get some much needed rest time.

Alex had shots of cortisone and other meds in the left side of his spine yesterday, done with 8 inch long needles (they showed him a photo of the procedure while the needles were still in his back!).  He is resting today, as he did yesterday, and apologizes for being late with the above posting.

February 24, 2010

We received an email message from Thai today, with a request that we share it with all, through Prayer Call.  This is the message, and the message within Thai's email:

"This is an email that I received from Kushy's partner Brian.  Please share it with all on PRAYER CALL.

Thanks.  Love,

Thai

From: BRIAN KELLOW

Subject: scott -- update

Hi everyone,

Here's the latest:  I spoke with the presiding doctor at Mt. Sinai today.  He would like to release Scott tomorrow afternoon (he will have been there for one full week tomorrow), as he feels that he is making considerable progress.  I'm going to the hospital tomorrow morning to size up the situation.  He still is plagued by the pneumonia, has a dreadful, rattling cough, shallow breathing and difficulty speaking and swallowing.  So I'm not at all sure that he should be released, but I'm not sure how much I have to say about the matter.  The really good news is that the MRI, done last night, was perfectly clean, so there's no brain trouble.  The best guess at the moment is that his drooping and crossed eyes and unequal pupils are caused by an inflammation of the optic nerve.

In any case, if his situation has indeed stabilized as much as the doctors think, I am happy to take care of him here at home.  However, it is going to be a VERY long recovery process--weeks, I would guess, from the look of things right now.  There's going to be lots of follow up with doctors--ENT, neurologists, etc.--because we absolutely have to get on top of the eye problem.  We have two appointments scheduled for this Thursday.

I've been asked by many of you--and I thank you--what you can do for me.  Cliffy and Beverly have been such a help in terms of looking after our animals, which has meant a lot.  Trust me--if I need help, I won't hesitate for one second to ask for it.  I'm not that masochistic, believe me.  Right now, I ask that you communicate with me via email.  It's just easier.  I went out tonight with my best friend for an early dinner to try to unwind a little and when I came out of the restaurant, I had a total of twelve phone calls on my cell.  I'm sure that you all understand that I simply cannot return all of these calls individually.  I'm pretty much wiped out tonight, and if I fold my cards, there's no game.  Thanks for understanding, and for respecting my feelings on this matter.

So: email me and I will absolutely keep you all abreast of the situation.  Your kindness and concern and love means more to me--to both of us--than I can ever possibly tell you.  Scott is very blessed to have such wonderful, kind, loving friends.  And so am I.

Upward--

Br

P.S. Bruce: your email was the one thing that made me laugh out loud all day.  Keep up the good work!

To our Dear Friends and Family.  Please continue sending the Strongest of Prayers to Kushi and Brian, and their entire families and support groups, so that they can provide a healing vibration at all times, and cover Kushi with that Healing Blanket of Blue.  Seems that the Spirit Specialist, Thane Beltoth made a house call, and is helping bring Kushi out of this situation so that he can heal very quickly.  May you all have your Incredible Strength and Energy returned to you, many-fold.  Bless you all!

We received an update from Eirene, on Joan Doljan's condition, post surgery:  "Hi .  Joan has been having post surgery problems such as extreme pains, no appetite, nausea as well.  She has been sleeping over at my house since Monday night.  I hope she stays a few more nights to fully recover.

So please ... continued prayers for a full and complete healing ... for Joan.  Her cell is 201-315-6446.  Phone may go to message and she usually, eventually returns calls.

Love Eirene"

Please continue to send Strong Prayers to Joan, and wrap her in that cool blue healing blanket, that she recovers quickly, and returns to good health soonest.  And thank you all for your Strength, to help pull Joan through this difficult time.  Our Love to you All!

Just a brief note:  Please send Strong Prayers to Eliza and Alex as they continue to try to find a way to stay in their house ... in their home.  They need all the help they can get, and your Prayers will certainly be of great help to them.  Bless you, and Thank you all very much.

February 23, 2010

We received a request from Thai today:

"Our dear friend and spiritual brother Kushi Barnes is in the hospital with a very severe and serious throat infection.  His partner Brian told me that he has been at Mt. Sinai for several days now and the doctors are not quite sure what exactly is wrong with him.  His entire esophagus is infected and inflamed and they do not know the cause.  The doctor said that it looked like diphtheria ... but diphtheria was wiped out decades ago.  They are doing all sorts of tests.

At the moment he is allowed no visitors.  He is not able to speak very well.  Can you imagine our Kushi not speaking ... it boggles the imagination.  But both Kushi and Brian could use strong healing prayers.  And let's not forget the doctors.  Let us pray that they are able to diagnose his disease properly and come up with a treatment and cure.

I'll keep you updated.  Brian is a little overwhelmed right now.  He honestly thought that Kushi was dying and he has been shaken to his core.  Please do not contact him just now.  I will stay on top of it and send updates to Alex to post on PRAYER CALL.  If you need or want to talk to me directly I can be reached at (917) 669-1013.

Love,
Thai"

Right now, as Thai said, we need to send Kushi the Strongest of Prayers that he be healed quickly and completely.  Also send Very Strong Prayers to his doctors, that they can figure out what exactly is wrong, and then cure it quickly.  Also Strong Prayers to Brian, Kushy's partner, that he be enveloped, with Kushi, in a Cool Blue Healing Blanket, by the Spirit.  When Alex was in hospital, he met a Spirit Doctor named Thane Beltoth, who worked with the Earth-based doctors to get a resolution to Alex' many problems. Let us ask the Spirit to assign Thane Beltoth to Kushy's case, as that will bring about a very quick and complete cure.

And as always, we thank you all for your Strength, your Caring, your Self-less approach to helping one of our family.  May all the positive energy you send out be returned, many-fold.

February 20, 2010

We received an update from Eirene on Joan Doljan's condition.  The surgery yesterday was successful, but very late in the afternoon, and since then Joan has had some reaction to medication they have given her, so she won't be released until mid to late morning, tomorrow February 21.

Please continue sending Strong Prayers of Healing and Love to Joan, and Thank you all for your Prayers and good wishes.

February 19, 2010

We just learned that New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg, a man who - after retiring from the US Senate, returned when he was needed - has been diagnosed with stomach cancer.

From MSNBC:

"After several days of hospitalization and testing, Senator Lautenberg's doctors have diagnosed that he has a B-Cell Lymphoma of the stomach," a Lautenberg spokesman said in a statement released Friday. "This is a curable tumor, and will require treatment over the next few months.

"We expect a full and complete recovery for Senator Lautenberg," said one of the lawmaker's doctors, James Holland.

We have no other details than that at this point, but we would like you to send Strong Prayers his way, that his doctors can minimize the pain he will be going through, and that if surgery is in the future, his surgeons' hands be guided to be able to help him in the best way possible.

And finally, that Strong Prayers go out to Senator Lautenberg and his family, for Healing and Calm, while this is resolved.

Our Thanks to you all.

February 18, 2010

We just received notice that Joan Doljan is in the Emergency Room at Palisades Medical Center.  She was taken there for Kidney Stones, and will be operated upon tomorrow, to remove the stones.

Please, send Strong Prayers to guide her surgeon's hands, that the procedure goes as smoothly and perfectly as possible.  Send Strong Prayers that Joan will heal quickly and completely, and that she comes home as soon as the doctors feel she is ready.  And may your Good Karma be returned to you many-fold.

As you all know from Thai's earlier email for Prayers, Dalita asked for Prayers for her Mother, Lorraine Rubinstein.  In addition, strong prayers are needed for the rest of the family, specifically Dalita, her sister and her brother.  The whole family needs prayers for strength and healing and loving concern for themselves and each other.

While Dalita was not specific about what had brought her mother to this point, we know that the Strongest Prayers are needed, to help Lorraine Rubenstein recover as quickly and completely as possible.  We also know that the same Strong Prayers are needed for Dalita and her family, to help them to approach this with a calm and healing feeling in their hearts and souls, so that they can impart that healing condition to Lorraine, as well.

Please, send the Strongest Prayers you can to Dalita, her Mother, and the rest of the family, so that Healing Begins, and the ailment leaves Lorraine fast as possible.  This way, Lorraine can be back on her feet and feeling good again, quickly as possible.  Envision the Spirit wrapping Lorraine with a Cool Blue Blanket of Healing Energy, and keeping the family in the circle of healing and prayers, too.  And may your Good Strength, Strong Prayers, and Strong Energy be returned to you all, many-fold.

Also, we wish to remind you all that Friday evening, February 19th, at 7pm, there will be an evening of meditation at Alina Bloomgarden's apartment.

Prayer Call became aware of the death of an Olympic athlete - named Nodar Kumaritashvili - an Olympic luge competitor from the nation of Georgia.  He died today  after sustaining injuries from a horrific crash during a practice run in Whistler, British Columbia.

From the VANCOUVER SUN:

Kumaritashvili was going close to 150 km/h, near the end of the course, when he launched off the track. Witnesses say his body hit a metal pole. Medical personnel performed CPR through a plastic tube and almost immediately an ambulance rushed Kumaritashvili from Whistler Olympic Park to the local hospital.

 .

The above is what he looked like as he rode by the camera during his fatal practice run.  We ask that you send Strong Prayers to Nodar, as he transitions into the next plane of existence, into the Bardos,  May the Spirit light his way as he follows his way towards his next level in the path.  We thank you all for your Strong Prayers for Nodar, and hope that your kindness be returned to you many-fold.

February 8, 2010

Yesterday, we received an email from Alex' niece Meredith, to let s know her step father, Jim Weisman, suffered a massive heart attack and passed over immediately.

His funeral is tomorrow at 10 AM and the burial follows immediately, at Mt. Ararat cemetery on Long Island.   Please send Strong Prayers for Jim, that the Spirit will guide him on his way through the next plane and the Bardos.  And Special Strong Prayers for Jim's widow, Alex's former sister in law, Linda, and their family, that they can deal with this terrible loss as well as Linda, and that they can be calm and have an easy path to follow as Jim has gone on ahead.

Jim Weisman was a lovely person, a real Mensch; a good person.  He learned to love Eliza and Alex as any other friends or family.  Even though he had every right to treat Eliza and Alex differently, due to Alex' brother being Linda's previous husband, and how Arthur and the family interacted.  But to Jim, Eliza and Alex were simply a couple that he met and treated like family or friends, with no preconceived attitudes.  Truly, a fair-minded and lovely person.

We will all miss him very much - his sense of humor, his easy way of dealing with people.  Thank you all for your Prayers for Jim and the family.

Eliza's boss, Libby, had her cataract surgery and came through with flying colors.  She was back at the office the next day with no side effects from the surgery.  Thank you all for your Prayers for Libby Peters.

We need you to send extra strong Prayers for Eliza and Alex, that they can find a way to not lose their house.  The foreclosure proceedings may begin as soon as the 13th of This month.  Any way you know to help them will be very much appreciated.  If you know how to write a grant request and where to send it, for this particular situation, please let Eliza and Alex know so that this can get started.

Thank you all so very much.

January 27, 2010

We received an email request from John Suggs:

"Please include Joe Collins's name on the healing prayer list.  He fainted before Christmas in the frame shop where he works, near his home in Phoenix.  He had to be given emergency open-heart surgery.  He is recovering nicely at home but would appreciate our prayers.

Thanks,

John"

Please do send Strong Healing Prayers to Joe Collins, that he is able to heal completely and quickly, from his open heart surgery.  This is a serious type of procedure, and the news that he is recovering nicely is Great News.  It is important that we get our Divine Spirit Guides and Teachers to visit him, to promote quick recovery and healing, so that he is up and around and back to normal soonest.  We thank you all, for your selfless acts of kindness, and we Pray that all your positive energy be returned your way, many-fold.  Thank you all.

On February 1, Eliza's boss, Libby Peters, will have cataract surgery.

Please send Strong Prayers to Libby's Eye Surgeon, to guide his hands for this delicate procedure.  Also Strong Healing Prayers to Libby herself, that she come through this easily and gently, and begins and ends, a quick healing period.  Thank you all very much.  May your Good Prayers and Positive thoughts be returned to  you, many-fold.

January 13, 2010

Haiti, a country which has so very little to begin with, was hit by a massive earthquake.  7.0 isn't much, compared to California's historical quakes, but when the buildings are made of cardboard, clapboard, and little else, and have almost no structural support, this country doesn't have much to help it.

Thankfully, the Whole World, led by the United States, is rushing to help Haiti.  This is a country that doesn't even have what we know as "first responders."  So President Obama and other leaders are working to get support and supplies to Haiti as quickly as possible.

We ask that when you meditate and pray, you include Haiti in your Prayers.  Make them the Strongest of Prayers, to send the Divine Spirit to help on that unseen plane, such that our Teachers and Guides can help to bring about healing and organize relief, bring medical and food supplies to Port-au-Prince, and everywhere they are needed.

We must remember Haiti in our Prayers for Days and Weeks to come.  They are, after all, connected to us by the Spirit, such that we can send our Prayers to help them to recover from this monstrous disaster.

Thank you all so very much for your Prayers and your Help.

Mercury goes Direct in a matter of days, so we can Pray that there are no more delays to getting Haitians the help they very much need.

The Story of Prayer Call

Prayer Call (On-Line) was created by one of Reverend Ellen Resch's students who, in the early 70s, was blown up in a natural gas explosion.  Suffering from first, second, and third degree burns over 50% - 60% of his body, he was rushed to the hospital - twice, as the first hospital released him (foolishly) - but the second hospital put in a chemically induced coma for a couple of weeks, while the burn specialists worked on him.

The doctors didn't understand how he had survived the explosion, nor how he continued to recover, given the severity of his injuries.

Reverend Resch, twice a week - after her meditation classes - asked her students to, voluntarily, stay after the classes to send special Prayers for Healing to that student.  After nearly a month of treatments of various kinds, the student came out of the hospital with no skin grafts - due to an experimental medicine - and hardly any evidence of the incredible burns he had suffered.

All involved attributed this incredible recovery to the Power of Prayers.

When the Internet finally developed to a level where this student could do so, he created Prayer Call, so that other people could benefit from the incredible power of prayers for Healing, as had he.

And so, Prayer Call was born.  Its purpose, to provide an avenue for Prayers to be sent to friends and family members who are in need of the Incredible Power and Strength of Prayers.

Once again, thank you all so very much for your prayers, for all friends, family and loved ones listed on this web site.  Your healing energy will be returned to you, many-fold.

Love, Peace, and Good Health and Good Humor to all!
